Movie Review: Some Freaks
So for the last few days I haven’t been able to sleep. To waste my time I have been binge watching a lot of Netflix and on demand movies/tv shows. I came across this one movie title which caught my attention.
Some Freaks captures the alienation that one-eyed Matt (Thomas Mann) plus-size Jill (Lily Mae Harrington). They meet very awkwardly (yet sweet and cute) while dissecting a pig in science class. This sparks a friendship that later transforms into love. After graduation Jill moves cross-country to go to college. Months later, to Matt's surprise when he arrives to visit her, Jill has undergone major physical transformation. Matt struggles to accept the new look Jill and she begins to question if Matt is the person she thought she knew. As the film progresses the characters confront who they are, who they were, and who everyone thinks they're supposed to be.
I love films such as these. I was alienated for my weight so I can sympathize with the characters that are Matt and Jill. Overall I give this movie a 97%.
Some Freaks (2017)
The film follows one-eyed high school senior Matt (Thomas Mann) who meets plus size Jill (Lily Mae Harrington) and falls more in love than he ever thought possible. However, when graduation comes and Jill moves cross-country to go to college, she undergoes a major physical transformation - much to Matt's surprise when he arrives to visit her. While Matt struggles to accept Jill's new look, Jill begins to question whether Matt is really the man she thought she knew. As the distance widens between them, the characters are forced to confront who they are, who they were, and who everyone thinks they're supposed to be.
