Howdy howdy! Doing something different today, which I hope y’all will like 😅
Feel free to skip my rambling below and move onto the story! It’ll start under the cut. And if you want a basic explanation on what it’s about, it’s a Lego Monkie Kid one-shot featuring MK meeting my monkey oc, Ravi, for the first time, with Wukong and Macaque tagging along to make the interactions more fun! The more monkeys the better, mwehehehe >:)
☽✧∙∙✺∙∙✧☽
So, a while back (I think it was a month ago… how did time fly by so fast wot ._.), I asked y’all if you’d be interested in reading a (not so little) one-shot/fanfic that I wrote, then I kinda just went silent after that… Sorry, time slipped through my fingers without realizing 💀 I was also planning to post this one-shot with a drawing, but if I did that, y’all would probably have to wait another month or two before I got around to posting it, because life has gotten too busy to draw much of anything at the moment. So, I made the decision to post this without a drawing, which I hope y’all are okay with. I don’t want to make anyone who was interested in reading wait any longer. I may still post a drawing of all 4 of them someday tho!
To be honest, I’m really nervous to post this because I’ve never shared any of my stories online, but oddly enough, I really wanted to share this one. Maybe I want y’all to get to know Ravi through my writing, pfft. I’m actually pretty happy with how it turned out (tho MK, Wukong, and Macaque may be a little ooc cuz they’re kinda difficult to write), and I hope I wrote clearly enough to not have anyone confused 💀 But, if you have any questions, either about the story or Ravi, please do leave a comment! Y’all have no idea how much I want to talk about my monkey, pfft. Anyways! Hope y’all like it!
Oh and, just a heads up, this thing is 3,188 words long, pfft.

The Sun-kissed Monkey
☀︎———•~~•———☀︎———•~~•———☀︎
It was like any other day.
Chilling under the shade of a tree to cool off from the scorching sun after defeating yet another villain trying to destroy Megapolis. Chilling with two abnormally large sentient monkeys who, most people would say, cause more mischief than good. Well, he may have to agree with them on the dark furred one, but the orange furred one? He was far from it! I mean, he was just so darn cute and cheeky!
Letting out a groan as he was sprawled out like a drying starfish, MK stuck his tongue out in hopes of it helping cool him off.
No such luck.
“What happened to the temperature all of a sudden. It’s never gotten this hot before. It’s like the sun is trying to cook me alive.” The Monkie Kid panted out, sweating up a storm while the two monkeys with him were unbothered.
With a shrug, the Monkey King leaned back against the tree, tail hanging off the branch he was perched atop. “No clue what you’re talking about bud. Feels like any other day to me.”
With another groan, MK squinted his eyes up at his mentor, just barely registering Macaque’s twitching ears followed by a slight smirk out of the corner of his eye.
“How are you not, like, dying of heat stroke? Does all of that fur on you not make you feel like you’re drowning in your own sweat?” MK whined, feeling like his mouth was as dry as a desert. His only response was a cheeky grin and chuckle.
Huffing, the kid closed his eyes, mumbling about wanting to jump into a lake and drinking the entirety of it, before he felt something hard and cool push up against his cheek.
“Would ya like some water, kiddo?” A voice said just above him, a grin obvious on his face just by the sound of his voice. Letting out a relieved sigh and breathy ‘thank you’, MK went to raise his hand to grasp the offered cup of water, only to pause.
Wait.
That did not sound like his mentor.
Or Macaque.
With a start, MK shot his eyes wide open, staring up at a new face hovering just above his head with a cheeky grin.
It was a monkey.
Another monkey??
“Okay. Just how many monkeys are there??” Was the first thing he blurted out, noting just how light this monkey’s fur was. It almost looked as if it was glowing with how the few sun rays that peaked through the leaves lit up his fur.
The tan skinned and light furred monkey only grinned wider before letting out a hoot of laughter, his head shooting back as a hand slapped at his knee. MK remained in his spot on the grass, watching this new monkey lose his mind over what he just blurted out, noting that he was sitting cross legged beside his head, still holding the offered cup of water in his tail. He couldn’t even think to look at the other two monkeys before the new monkey calmed his hysterical laughter, looking back down at the kid while wiping away a tear.
“Man. You’re a riot kid. But to answer your question, don’t worry, there won’t be any other mystical monkey suddenly making an appearance.” Letting out a chuckle, the golden furred monkey pressed the cup up against his cheek again, raising a golden eyebrow.
“Still want the water?”
Blinking up at him, MK had to buffer for a moment before slowly sitting up and taking the water, only then glancing at the other two monkeys who were still present, confusion obvious on his face.
“… Thanks mystery monkey man.” Seeing as the Monkey King and the Six Eared Macaque weren’t making a move to attack the new monkey, MK figured that he was a good guy, so he let his guard down and gulped down the entirety of the cool liquid in one go. It was so refreshing.
“So, Ravi, what brings you to China? Thought you settled down in India.” Wukong suddenly spoke up, arms folded behind his head as the tip of his tail curled and uncurled.
That caught MK’s attention.
“Wait— Ravi? India? Hold up, you know this guy— er… monkey, Monkey King?” Looking up at his mentor for answers, who looked down at him as the new monkey, Ravi, leaned back against his hands, tail swaying behind him, the kid pouted when he was only waved off with a hand.
“Eh. Long story bud. I’ll explain some other time. Maybe.” The Monkey King lazily said, earning a sigh out of Macaque, who finally pushed himself off from leaning against the tree across from theirs, making his way closer to the small group.
“No you won’t.” Was his response to Wukong’s lackluster response to his protege, who glared and stuck his tongue out at the dark furred macaque like the child he truly was. “This is Ravi. We met him separately a couple hundred years ago while he was traveling around China. He’s kinda the Sun God.” The dark furred monkey proceeded to explain to MK, sitting himself down beside the light furred— and taller— monkey, who just grinned down at Macaque before turning back towards MK, who was now staring at him with his jaw dropped.
“Sun God?!” MK squeaked out, earning a chuckle out of Wukong and a hoot from Ravi.
“Psh! I ain’t no sun god. Mac’s just exaggerating, kid, you don’t need to get all tense. Besides, how could I be considered a god when I haven’t lived nearly as long as these two old monkeys!” The golden furred monkey hooted in laughter once again, gaining an eye roll from Macaque and a sarcastic “hah!” from the Monkey King. “Says the monkey who inherited the previous Sun God’s powers. Haven’t humans started calling you the Taiyō Warrior?”
Before Ravi could even respond, MK was up in his face with stars in his eyes, expression that of an excited child meeting someone famous.
“You’re the Taiyō Warrior?? I mean, now that I think about it it makes sense because I heard that he was a monkey with light fur, dark skin, and golden eyes, as well as decked out with golden bands and sweet looking armor, but I didn’t know you would be so tall compared to—“ The Monkie Kid started geeking out, only to cut himself off at realizing how close he was and the fact he started rambling there. Flinching back, he nervously laughed with an apology, scratching the back of his head as Ravi let out a chuckle, completely unbothered.
“I get that a lot. And well, I’m actually naturally smaller than these two old monkeys, but I choose to be tall.” Ravi responded while playfully elbowing Macaque, who grumbled with arms crossed, but remained seated beside him. It was obvious that the three monkeys knew each other enough to poke fun at each other without there being any negative reactions.
“Anyways, to answer your question Wukong, I left India to check out what’s changed over the past century or so I’ve settled down. I see that this place has changed a lot since I’ve last been here.” Before MK could start rambling again, the golden furred monkey spoke up, answering the orange furred monkey’s initial question.
MK decided to remain quiet, choosing to listen to these mystic monkeys talk like old friends about their incredibly long lives.
“Seems like Megapolis isn’t the only thing that’s changed.” Macaque chimed in, eying Ravi’s form as Wukong nodded along, finally jumping down from his spot on the branch and landing in a crouch beside his protege.
“Macaque’s right. Quit rocking the human-like appearance?” Sitting back against an arm, the Monkey King pulled out a bag of peach chips out of nowhere, opening it up with the help of his tail and shoving a hand in, before taking out a chip and popping it into his mouth, not even bothered by the fact Ravi’s tail literally stretched over to grab a hand— tail— full of chips.
How did his tail even do that?
This was such an unusual sight. Being surrounded by sentient monkeys who were catching up like old friends. MK could only imagine what someone, who didn’t live his crazy life, would think seeing their little group. Was he really just sitting through this like it was normal? How was this his life.
“Oh! Right. Yeah, being around my monkeys for so long, I’ve adapted my original look back. Feels way more comfortable and like me now.” Ravi replied with a smile so bright, he looked as if he was glowing.
“That’s great bud! It suits you way more than your previous look. And that armor is sweet looking.” The Monkey King responded, agreeing to what his protege had said when he had his fanboy moment. The golden furred monkey let out a short hoot of laughter, his tail quivering slightly as if energized, golden rings of eyes soon landing on said protege.
“Before I get hounded by more questions from you three,” Ravi started, MK sitting up with a start at the fact the golden furred monkey included him, “you’re MK, huh? The Monkie Kid I’ve heard about while traveling China?”
The kid, getting tongue tied at the fact this Sun God, the Taiyō Warrior, knew about him, could only nod as a response, empty cup still grasped between his hands, earning a cheeky grin from the taller monkey.
“Well, it’s nice to meet you. Wukong ain’t giving you too much of a hard time, huh?”
Said Monkey King’s response was a “hey!” before Ravi continued with a quick smirk in Wukong’s direction.
“You know, you can always come to me if you need a different mentor. I can teach you all about how to wield all kinds of weapons, how to predict your opponent’s moves before they could even think to act, and much more!” His last word was said with an explosive laugh, as Wukong suddenly leaped and tackled him onto the ground, wrestling with the taller monkey, who only continued in his hoots of laughter while wrestling.
“I’m all he needs in a mentor, you overgrown sunflower.” The orange furred monkey growled out with a cheeky smile, putting Ravi into a headlock, only for his arms to suddenly falter in thin air, as the monkey he thought he was holding onto dispersed into particles of light. It didn’t take him long to find the light furred monkey grinning down at him from the branch Wukong once sat on, hanging upside down by his tail.
MK could only watch as they continued with their roughhousing, slightly concerned at the fact they were fighting, only to flinch at the sound of a sigh and the feeling of a hand patting his shoulder.
“Relax MK. They’re just play fighting. Ravi’s explained to us that it’s his way of showing he cares. Wukong’s just reciprocating.” Macaque said from beside him, MK catching the sight of a shadow portal just barely disappearing from under the dark furred macaque.
The kid let out a relieved sigh, before raising a brow at the macaque now sitting beside him. “Did you just use a portal to teleport from where you were sitting across from me?” His only response was a nonchalant shrug.
MK huffed out a laugh, shaking his head slightly at the macaque’s laziness, eyes trailing back over to the two lighter furred monkeys who were somehow wrestling on the tree?
No, like, they were literally standing sideways on the trunk of the tree.
Deciding to just accept the unusual sight, or else he may risk getting a headache for thinking about it too hard, the Monkie Kid hesitantly cleared his throat in hopes of catching their attention.
It worked. The two monkeys froze in their play fighting, blinking at each other for a moment, before looking down at the kid and dark furred monkey still sitting in the grass.
“Sorry to interrupt your, uh… play fighting?” MK started with an uncertain tone when saying ‘play fighting,’ glancing at Macaque to make sure he used the right word, who gave him a slight nod, before continuing, “but I just had a thought. And it’s probably a stupid thought but thought I’d ask.”
The monkeys seemed to sense how unsure the kid was, although that probably was obvious by the fact he said that last sentence all in one breath while fiddling with the empty cup that was still in his hands.
He should probably give it back but he wasn’t thinking about that right now.
“Shoot, kid.” Was Ravi’s response, dropping down from the tree trunk in a crouch with Wukong landing right beside him, a light and lazy grin spreading across the golden furred monkey’s lips. Was it just him or did Ravi’s canines look sharper and longer than the other two’s?
Not the point!
“… Okay, so you’re the Sun God,” MK started, gaining a left sided shrug from the golden furred monkey in indifferent agreement, who settled back down on the grass, leaning against the tree trunk with his arms crossed over his chestplate, “which means you could probably control the sun, right? Cuz I’ve been dying of heat stroke this past half hour and would greatly appreciate it if you could, I dunno, dial down the heat?”
Silence stretched on for a moment as the tall monkey blinked at MK, seemingly taken aback by his words, the Monkey King snickering and the Six Eared Macaque smirking to himself. And just as MK opened his mouth to start taking back his words, thinking that it really was a dumb thought and that he might’ve offended the monkey, Ravi burst out into hoots of laughter, bending over while clutching at his stomach. The other two monkeys couldn’t help but join in on the contagious laughter, cackling and snickering respectively, as MK’s face grew a little hot.
“Geez. Did I say something funny?” The kid mumbled out in embarrassment, but before he could start silently berating himself for such a dumb thought, Ravi raised a shaky hand and held it out for a moment, a silent plea for MK to wait until his laughter subsided so he could explain.
So, with an embarrassed sigh, the Monkie Kid complied, leaning back onto his hands and watching as Ravi tried to compose himself, the other two now snickering silently. He had to admit, Ravi’s hoots of laughter really were contagious.
He couldn’t help the small smile that spread across his face.
After a couple moments of quiet giggles to himself, the golden furred monkey was finally able to pull himself together, lifting his upper body up from it’s previously bent over position, wiping some tears away from his hysterical laughter.
“Phew. You really are a riot, kid. Heh.” Ravi started saying, grinning down at MK before leaning back against the tree trunk, arms lifting and crossing behind his head.
“I’ll come clean. That heat you’re feeling? That ain’t the sun. I forget that humans and other creatures are bothered by my heat, that I didn’t think to curb it. And no, despite me being a ‘sun god,’ I don’t actually control the sun. At least, I haven’t learned how to, and honestly, don’t really care to.”
Almost immediately after, the scorching heat that has slowly been killing him with dehydration, suddenly dropped to a pleasant and comforting warmth.
The kind of warmth where you’d be sitting in front of a fireplace with a blanket and cup of hot cocoa.
The kind of warmth you’d get when hugging a parent or best friend.
It took the kid a moment to truly process the monkey’s words, as he was too busy feeling relieved at the fact he wasn’t sweating bullets now and could now feel the refreshing cool breeze caressing his face, but when he thought back on his words, MK looked up at him with a puzzled expression.
“Wait… What do you mean by ‘your’ heat?”
Ravi only grinned, tail flicking behind him playfully, as the heat returned, only to drop once again.
The Monkie Kid short circuited, mostly because of the sudden temperature change from moderate, to scorching, then back to moderate, but also because he was slowly connecting the dots. It only took a loud and dumbfounded gasp from the kid to set Ravi off, laughter rolling off of him in waves as the other two joined in, finding amusement in how this was playing out.
“It was you?! You were the cause of that heat?? How does that even work?? How come it was the same temperature when you were sitting beside me as it is now when you’re sitting farther from me?? And how come— … Wait… How long have you been here??” MK exclaimed in bewilderment, now looking between all the mystical monkey men that were present. They all knew something he didn’t.
“Ravi’s been with me since we’ve got here.” Macaque chimed in, being the first overgrown monkey to calm his snickers enough to speak.
The kid snapped his head over beside him, looking up at the dark furred monkey with a pout.
“Let me guess. Size shifting.”
At the even and straightforward tone, Ravi couldn’t help but snort, grinning cheekily at the kid. “That’s right. You catch on quick when you’ve got enough clues. You’ve got a nice head on your shoulders, kid.”
Hearing the Taiyō Warrior’s compliment, MK’s mood brightened, chuckling bashfully while scratching at the back of his hair. “Shucks. Thanks Mister Ravi sir.”
Both Ravi and Wukong chuckled at his words, Macaque allowing a small smile to grace his lips. Silence stretched on for a moment as they took a moment to appreciate the cool breeze that greeted them, the only movement between them being Ravi’s leg bouncing slightly, as if he just couldn’t sit still, until MK shifted and held out the empty cup that Ravi had offered to him minutes ago.
“Thanks again for the water. Even tho you were the one who caused my dehydration.” The kid said with a playful lilt in his voice, grinning at the monkey to show that he really didn’t blame him for the heat.
Ravi chuckled, waving his hand and surprising MK when the cup he was holding suddenly vanished into light particles. “Sure thing, kid. Was the least I could do, even tho I didn’t realize I was the cause of you ‘being cooked alive’ at the time.”
Wukong snickered at that, gaining a smirk from Ravi and a huff from MK.
It didn’t take long for their conversation to flow after that, MK asking the golden furred monkey all the questions that popped up in his head, Wukong making jokes and teasing the others when appropriate, Macaque chiming in now and then, mostly to irritate Wukong, and Ravi hooting with laughter and being as animated as one would imagine a person— or monkey— free of any worries and problems would be.
MK has got to introduce the others to this sun-kissed monkey.
