lithops: how do you spend free time by yourself? Pre-pandemic, I would love to go to museums by myself. If I'm at home, I love to make myself a bunch of snacky things to eat and watch any of my comfort movies.

jelly bean: do you prefer walking, driving, or biking? Walking then driving. But I hate driving on the expressway unless I have to.

From the Succulent Asks 🌱 pussy ears: how do you take your coffee? ponytail palm: what is your favorite flavor of macaron and ice cream? perle von nurnberg: what makes your heart flutter?

<3 These are terrific. Answers below the cut because it got long and a little personal.

Coffee: Cafe Bustelo made strong in a drip maker, then with light cream stirred in. I add splenda if it's over ice.

Favorite macaron: passionfruit or lemon.

Favorite ice cream: coffee chip or butter pecan. I won't say no to black raspberry or orange pineapple, though. I live in New England, where you can still get these old-school flavors, and ice cream is a year-round food group.

What makes my heart flutter: Um. Well. I don't talk about this a lot, but-- I have a sort-of long-distance sort-of-QPR with someone who I used to work with, and she listens to me and acts on it, and she lets me be tender with her when others in her life can't give that to her. Otherwise, a bright cloudless day at Crane's Beach, or any summit in the Berkshires.

calico kitten: what is something valuable that you learned in your life?

You can always start over, or start someplace else. It's hard, and it hurts and sometimes it takes a long time to come out on the other side, but it's not only possible, but always preferable to staying in a bad situation. My "choose yourself" tag is pretty much driven by this.

blue elf: do you have a favorite scent?

Oh, geez. Either the Lillian Gibson rose that grows on the trellis on the side of my garage or a fresh loaf of bread. Never mind that I'm gluten intolerant, fresh-baked bread is the best.

Okay, I had to go back and look at the last photo I took. It was a fun photo! My kid was flanked by our two cats who hate each other so they're never near each other. All three of them were looking right at the camera and the fact that the cats were on the couch at the same time was quite unusual. From Some Succulent Asks.

little jewel: are you an art museum or a science museum kind of person?

Overall, I prefer art museums. My favorite thing is taking pictures of people looking at the art. I'm lucky to live in a city where we have amazing art museums and science ones.

moonglow: how do you relieve stress? I love to read and write, but also, go to floatation tanks (a.k.a. sensory deprivation chamber). I'm in there for an hour or 90 minutes, floating and listening to ambient music. I'm either in complete darkness or let the cool purple lights glow. You don't think about anything while you're in there.

pussy ears: how do you take your coffee? Black. 🖤

If I'm outside, I would prefer a warm sunny day. If I'm inside reading or writing, and drinking some coffee or tea, then I'm a cozy, rainy day kind of gal.

black prince: are there any pets you would like to have? I would love to have a raccoon. I would die! Realistically, that is never going to happen. So, here are my two adorable idiot babies: Rose and Violet.
