disclaimer that i think both weren’t great obviously and they’re all just broken kids with big feelings — but there was definitely some lack of respect for boundaries.
karen was clear about just being fwb while lip continuously wanted something more. mandy was clear about wanting to be partners “so this is our third time now... what are we?” while lip wanted it to be casual.
and then ofc the drama between the girls 😅 there’s a whole lotta issues w that situation. but i love they’re both feisty as hell and tough as nails which is apparently what you need to withstand dating a gallagher.
i loved how seamlessly karen blended in with the gallaghers in early seasons with moments like watching cosmos w the fam & working w kev’s ice cream truck. and i love her kind heart towards her mother, always patient and not resenting even when it must be difficult.
mandy did so much for lip being “ghetto married” and regarding getting him into college and shit. then in s4 when he sees her at the diner while he’s with his new college gf 💔 that one hurt. she’s so fiercely protective like mickey — the soft heart under the hard shell but almost dangerously so. i also just love her friendships with ian & debbie.
i think my tie-breaker is that scene in s5 where lip is like hey “you’re gorgeous. you’re sweet. you’re funny. you’re very smart. and you know that, right? i mean it, okay? you’re a good person mandy.” that was beautiful.
so like, mandy — but all 3 deserve better.
The fact that 3x12 so perfectly sets up season four. Obviously tonally and with Frank and Debs, but Ian is literally manic !!
He had his first low the episode before and most bipolar people have a traumatic experience that starts their first psychotic break. Terry forcing Svetlana to rape Mickey while Ian watched is my theory.
Why is it that in 10x11 & 10x12 Mickey carried around guns and Ian didn’t give a shit, but then in season 11 it’s like “you’re on parole!”… pretty sure he was on parol in season 10 too JW & co.
