#CGTC2013 - DAY 1:
So first off I apologize for writing this so late. I have been in shock this entire week just from how perfect and mind-blowing this past weekend was. It's been really hard to actually force myself to write about it, but here goes.
I guess I'll start from the beginning of this epic mini-adventure: at the Salt Lake City International Airport. I'll be honest, I haven't been on vacation out of Utah since the summer of 2010 when I went to New York, which means that I had not been at an airport for a LONG time, and I had certainly never been there alone before. My mom took me to the security gate, but I was on my own from there (at least until Lindsay got there). I know it sounds ridiculous, but leading up to this trip I had 3 major worries that kept annoyingly pouring into my head:
1. That I would forget about some important airport rule and something would go wrong during the security check and they wouldn't let me take my stuff with me. (I know, I know, I'm ridiculous).
2. That something bad (aka crime-related) would happen to me or one of my friends while we were in Chicago.
3. That at Airport for Birds I wouldn't get to meet all of the Starkids that I wanted to meet (this nearly came true, but it's not as big of a deal as I thought it would be. Details later.)
Well, despite my worries I made it through the airport to my gate by myself, and it was so much easier than I had imagined. Before we knew it, Lindsay and I were on a plane to Chicago. Apparently our fangirling conversations were louder than we thought on the plane, because about 15 minutes into the flight some lady next to us asked if we could be quieter. OOPS.
So after a 3-hour flight where I tried to read this boring book for class but ended up listening excitedly to Starkid/WWM/OTTM music, we landed at O'hare Airport. And it is the HUGEST but most interesting airport I have EVER SEEN. Just trying to find Felice and her sister was a challenge, but we finally did.
So after we talked for a while (and Felice screamed from excitement, startling everyone around us in the crowded airport), Felice and her sister went to our hotel and Lindsay and I waited a few hours for Justine to get there. We got the most AMAZING Chicago pizza in the food court at the airport.
Then a few hours later Lindsay, Justine and I arrived at the hotel (our rooms were even right next to each other) and started getting ready to go to a very special place in Chicago that night. If any of you are familiar with the amazing band Jim and the Povolos, you've probably heard their song The Holiday Club. Well, we decided we NEEDED to go to this place on this trip, the place where TEAM STARKID met before they were famous and after. So we got all dressed up and headed out. And I'm quite proud of the outfit I wore ;)
So the Holiday Club was awesome. I'm just glad they let Justine and I in because I'm 19 and she's 20. The only weird thing was that when we got there it was completely empty, but we found out later that that was just because we got there too early. Overall it was a great time.
And then... we tried hailing a cab back to the hotel. Yeah... that was interesting. Basically we ran around for about 15-20 minutes in the freezing Chicago night air, and people probably thought we were a rittle unsober. Even a couple of locals watching us were basically laughing at us, but we didn't care. Long story short, we FINALLY got a cab and headed back to the hotel, where we spent the rest of the night hanging out in Felice and Lindsay's room watching the Apocalyptour and World's Worst Musical DVDs with heart-shaped lollipops. Great ending to a great night. :)
DAYS 2 AND 3 COMING SOON! :)
