Yeah that's why I use them as well but I just think they look pretty weird, and have been driven into the ground with use. I like to use the ones people have started with recently like the ones with the flowers inside and the brackets and everything, they look a lot nicer and haven't been killed by overuse.

also when i went to this chatroom that was like exclusive to three of my internet friends and i which i went to a few years ago before it slowly started dying, we all invented a shitton of new emoticons. i can barely remember any of them nowadays though. i think one of them was >:'9

i dont know why people are dickwads about the emoticon but i just think it's really dumb and kind of annoying, i won't comment on it but i just think it's not very pleasing to look at. I think emoticons as a whole like :D :3 :) xD ;A; just aren't very nice to look at.
