I almost did not catch my flight out of Dominica 🇩🇲 on the day of my Birthday 🎂 Political unrest erupted in Dominica in the constituency of Marigot, which is located less than 10 mins from Dominica’s 🇩🇲 airport. Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit expressed that the acts appear to be in retaliation to bench warrants being issued for United Workers Party Leader of the opposition, Lennox Linton and former leader, Edison James- both from Marigot The supporters of the opposition told me as I walked through the streets that they also blocked the streets to prevent the ruling party from flying in Dominicans living overseas for more than five years to return to cast a vote. They want electoral reform preventing such voting, they want a purge of the dead persons and overseas residents from the voting list and they want voter ID cards to become law to permit only current Dominican citizens to cast a single vote. A big shout out to the immigration official at the airport that made sure that the plane waiting on the runway did not leave me. Most of all... Maximum respect to my driver Eric Chambers who was clever and connected to get another driver to (at a moment’s notice) pick me up on the other side of the road blocks. Without his help, I would have certainly missed my flight. #SOMURRAY DOMINICA ELECTION TURMOIL ROAD BLOCKAGE PRIMEMINISTER SKERRIT OPPOSITION LEADER LENNOXLINTON EDISONJAMES LIAT in response to that action as well as the fact that they and fact that the opposing party (at Marigot, Dominica) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5qSxm3Bcmh/?igshid=fiwsqqiwb66o
