Shared from @thedadgang : Happy Son•Day Gang. • I’m a creative and I do most of my work from home so my kids are always at my desk trying to play with me or get my attention. At times this can get very overwhelming, especially when I’m in the zone trying to concentrate and let my creative juices flow. No matter what I’m doing I try my hardest to never make them feel like they are a nuisance or my work is more important to me. Even if they don’t don’t say it kids can pick up on that and they might start feeling like daddy doesn’t care. So instead I find a spot right next to me for them to sit and do a project or even just let them sit on my lap for a few and show them what I’m doing and why it’s important. It doesn’t take long for them to get bored with Daddy’s work and move on to another room or toy and I can get back to my work unbothered. So for the dads working from home, when your kids come around don’t get upset or make them feel like they are in the way. Show them what you do, maybe trying giving them a similar task that makes them feel included and just as important as your work. If you make it a habit they’ll get the point that you need some quite time to do your thing soon enough....if not, that’s ok just embrace the stay at home dad struggle bro. 😩🤷🏾‍♂️ It won’t last forever. After all, all they really want is your attention. One day they will be the busy adult focused on work and if you’re lucky they will always make time for their ol’ man because you taught them that nothing is more important than FAMILY.
