No filter book challenge!
@sonderreads
Prompt: the oldest book you own, in all its glory But also qualifies as: ex library book, a book that is falling apart, a book that has been scribbled on or written in, a book that has been stained by food or drink, a book with yellowing pages, a book with torn pages, a book with dogeared pages
My grandmother gave me this book of Favorite Greek Myths, that she found in a dumpster when she was young! It was published in 1904, and used to be a public school library book. I love it.
Gonna tag: @the-owleryreader, @left-handlibrary, and @literatureandwit if they’re interested 😊
Nofilterbooklrchallenge: Oldest Book I Own @sonderreads
Longfellows Evangeline! This copy comes from 1900, so old that a poem from a newspaper has left an imprint on one of the pages.
#nofilterbooklr challenge: A picture of a book that you just couldn’t get right
I love the Tearling series by Erika Johansen but no pictures can do justice to the beautiful, shiny covers. And book one has a velvety feeling to it, too.
#nofilterbooklr challenge: Makeshift or messy shelving
I built this bookshelf myself because I could not find anything fitting under the pitched roof area. Over the months, the boards would bend more and more. I have since moved and could not salvage any of the boards because they were so crooked.
#nofilterbooklr challenge: a book that has been stained by food or drink
You can often find chocolate stains in my (older) books, but of course I could not find any right now. But here is a victim of reading in the bathtub. Throrough drying and pressing for months did wonders.
#nofilterbooklr challenge: Ex library book
I read this book several times while it was still part of the library and was happy to save it once it got sorted. But I tried to take of tge stickers on the outside, not knowing the whole book was covered with one huge, transparent sticker (and the library mark was below). So now there are big pieces ripped off.
#nofilterbooklr challenge: a book with a handmade cover
I made this cover way back, when we got our cat which I named “Felis” after the cat in the book. It is one of the first pictures of him on the cover (I have not seen the “original” cover in ages).
