As a Vocalist, I am classically trained. As an Artist, I am versed in multiple genres. One thing on my "Bucket List" would be to one day record a Classical Album. It may be unheard of and extremely ambitious for a Rnb/Hip Hop/Pop Artist to record in the classical genre; but I suppose someone has to, haha. Here is Dichterliebe, "The Poet's Love" by Robert Schumann (Op. 48), I was first introduced to in College at ASU by one of my dear Vocal Instructors; Joni Killian now a Professor at Huntington University. It's a marvelous Song Cycle with rich and warm Melodies and based on "Love Poets". And Love has always been something in life I have sought out, found, and lost in life. The Song Cycle has 20 Songs; so when the time comes, it certainly will be quite the undertaking. But one, I feel, I am vocally, mentally, and spiritually prepared to take on at this stage in life. I’ve loved working with the #American #composer #tim_risher on a new #songcycle for #tenor and #piano based on a group of my #Fibonacci #poems. I’m thrilled with the result and excited to hear that he is looking for performers to give the premiere. I can’t wait to hear them. (at Lewes, East Sussex)

Van Dyke Parks - Song Cycle 💯💯💯100TH POST 🚨 🚨 🚨 Here it is folks. 100 posts, I can retire happy now. Just kidding, but I did pick an album very special to me for my 100th post, the radically underrated Song Cycle by Van Dyke Parks. Van is probably best known for his work with Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys but he has a bunch of solo albums, this one in particular is a masterpiece. It's an album well out of my ability to understand. It bares the marks of someone who is so in tune with the history of American music and who is a genius arranger. The songs on this record are incredibly well built but the music is always swirling never quite repeating itself. There's a whole slew of instruments and sound effects here that I am still picking up on despite having heard it 100 times. There are a ton of fun facts about this record but my favourite is how he arranged a public domain song (Nearer, My God, to Thee) then follows it up on the B-Side with a song he wrote called Public Domain so on the track list it says Van Dyke Parks/Public Domain followed by Public Domain/Van Dyke Parks.
