Mattie had been flying for a very long time over a forever blue ocean that seemed to extend for an eternity. She had needed to get somewhere warmer. She was not a winter fairy but had been late in the migration so now she was running from the cold that could so easily catch her. After flying for four days without rest she became far too exhausted to continue and crashed down but with the last moments that she was able to keep her eyes open she aimed for a floating leaf on the calm sea before letting herself plummet. It was after some time that she would not be able to recall even if she tried to that she floated onto the shore near Owyn's home, exhausted and hopelessly lost.
