I want to work at an antique shop, or Cup of Joe. *sigh*
I'm getting sick of our Sonic. I wish we were like the other Sonic's. You know, the ~southern ones. I hear they get shit done. Ours... does not. Iowa just isn't ready for Sonic. Sonic is too much for Iowa.
You guys. You just don't understand. I have this thing for drive-in restaurants. I ENJOY my job. I've been with our Sonic since their very first day, and even before that. I applied the moment I found out we were getting one, AND was hired on the spot. I'm frickin' chipper like that. I've been with them for over two years. I typically enjoy being a carhop, and doing all the little things to keep the place looking nice. I love interacting with the customers, and try to make them feel as "comfortable" as they can at a Sonic, lol. I'm not just there because it's a job. I chose this particular FAST FOOD joint because it's a drive-in restaurant. I like this sort of thing. Sonic isn't just another McDonald's to me. I care about it. I really do. Yes, all you lawyers and doctors who think I'm not good enough for anything other than a fast food restaurant. I AM GOOD ENOUGH. I AM. I'd just rather work at a job I enjoy, than one I'm forced to go to because it pays good. I have this choice. I'm very lucky. I chose the FUN job. At least, I thought I did. Not that some lawyers and doctors don't enjoy their jobs, it's just that those jobs don't appeal to ME.
UGH. So.... ours has potential if we just had enough people to cook. We never have enough people scheduled. It makes life hell. We are forced to rush through everything just to get people's orders out on time. We can't take our time to make things look good. That's like, my thing. I enjoy making things look good. That WOULD be my job, if we just had enough people to cook. OMG. People have to wait freaking twenty minutes for their FAST food sometimes because we'll only have four people scheduled with ten stalls full and people on the patio. Then, we get complaints. It sucks because as a carhop, all you can do is apologize profusely and treat them with respect. It's not our fault. It's not even really the cooks' fault. Their working their little butts off too; you know, all TWO of them... I hate that we have this reputation of being slow, that we always get orders wrong -- that's true, too. It's horrible. I do my best, but I can only do so much and it drives me crazy. I wish I could just do it ALL. Shit would get done. OMG. Geez. Why am I even complaining about this ON TUMBLR.... I'm contemplating whether to just delete this or not.... too personal.... too much.... I'm thinking about this and still typing... ahhhh.... ok, it's going up. =X
