You dont understand how much I think about sonic and eggman being soulmates and how fucked up that would be like,,,, I love the headcanon/theory that when they first met sonic trusted eggman and eggman used that to his advantage and manipulated him into getting the chaos emeralds for him/help him with experiments or whatever. now picture that with the red string of fate au. eggman is EVIL and I think it would be so fucked up of him to take something like a soulmate bond and use it in his evil schemes just for his own gain, and do it again and again and again. listen LISTEN sonic and eggman being soulmates has so much potential and could be so fucking interesting. soulmates being about Fate and who is and will be Significant and Important in your life

I'm still thinking about how itd work and not sure what exactly I want to do, but I think that they could sense certain things about the other only if they actively tried. grabbing the string and purposefully tugging on it would make the other person feel that

I think soulbonds could have the potential to allow the people to sense each other in a more emotional sense, but only if those people work on that connection and want to keep it open. eggman and sonic are very pointedly Ignoring their bond. I think the most they would get is vague intent? for example immediately pre unleashed, sonic would get a Very Bad Feeling and Know its from eggman. no details or understanding why, but he knows its from the soulbond. it has to be really intense for the other to feel it since they dont have any open connection

but still just knowing the direction would be enough, and sonics friends always joke about sonic having some eggman radar because he can sniff him out really easily and sonics always like yeah haha lets move on to a different topic!!

continuing on from that post. sonic who grew up alone and isolated on christmas island and not know What the red string was, only that it was important. sonic trying to figure out whats on the other end because he knows there's something on the other end he can feel it

eggman not caring about the red string (idk what happens when soulmates dont exist at the same time but eggman has always been aware that hes got a string/soulmate), dismissing it because its not beneficial for him, he doesnt need anyone and he doesnt want anyone and he doesnt want to share his life with anyone. treating someone as an equal?? someone being as important as HIMSELF? disgusting!!! absolutely not, DIE!!! he can feel someone on the other end of the string, but he ignores it no matter how much they tug, he has so much better things to do with his time

but then he does meet sonic and sonic is this little kid who is so naive and is so fascinated by him for so many reasons (this is what was on the end of the string this is someone new someone who isn't the flickies hes known his whole life this is someone whos going to help him get off this island). sonic is this little kid who is naturally talented with chaos energy. sonic is someone eggman can use. eggman has been given a perfect, surefire way to get sonic to trust him and follow him. maybe this soulmate thing isnt a waste of time, after all

and then shit HAPPENS and this post is getting long but listen im thinking about it. the timeline would pretty much be the same as it is in canon (gameverse) just with that added uhhh cant think of the word. conflict? tension? after christmas island and the events of sonic 1, it's the same but they're still Connected. no one knows but them. they both hate it but cant change it
