About the only time I really like Archie's "Sonic X" comic is when they reference eighties movies and other off-beat shit. Issue 22 includes references to "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and "Lost in Space." Sadly, it's another pretty lame story. Anyway, read the fuckin' review, you jerks.
Back in 2006, Sega was celebrating the 15th anniversary of their entire Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Weirdly, Archie's main book more-or-less ignore this event. The "Sonic X" side book, meanwhile, put together a short story arc to honor the series' history. These are my thoughts on this manner.
With issue 160, Archie's "Sonic the Hedgehog" comic would enter a new era, beginning Ian Flynn's decade-long run that would completely redefine the book and finally make it readable again.
Well, guys, we are here at last. Issue 159 is the final issue of “Sonic the Hedgehog” that Ken Penders would work on. With his exit, one era of Archie Sonic history – with, admittedly, wildly divergent ups and downs – was about to end. Another era, one widely regarded as the comic's best, was about to begin. As far as transitional issues go, 159 hardly wraps up any of Ken's lingering plot points. In fact, it sets up a few more!

2006 would be the year that Archie's “Sonic the Hedgehog” book would finally pull itself out of the pit of mediocrity it had been simmering in for quite a few years. Soon, enough, a new creative staff will come on board and revitalize the title. But we're not there, not quite yet.
Also, I played a good chunk of “Sonic-Mania” today and it literally brought tears to my eyes. This is the Sonic game I’ve been waiting twenty years to play. That Chemical Plant boss? Oh my god. Though playing a classic Sonic game on a PlayStation controller is fucking surreal...
Greeting, human flesh-poids! It’s still technically Friday, at least accoridng to my advanced future robot time-computing technology. So my interior scheduling software informs me that it’s time to update Hedgehogs Can’t Swim again. So here’s a new review, of issue 156, which isn’t very good. Anyway, consume my product, fleshy creatures.

Game Review
For people who grew up with the Sega Genesis, hearing the old-timey “SEEEGAAAA” crackle through my speakers as I launched Sonic Mania was enough to put a smile on my face. Developed by Headcannon and PagodaWest Games, Sonic Mania is only licensed and published by Sonic Team; effectively rendering it as a title made by the fans.
Like many hit-or-miss spiritual successors of classic gaming properties such as Sonic 4, it can prove harder than you’d imagine to faithfully capture that childlike zeal and still create new gameplay concepts throughout the entire duration. At this, Sonic Mania deftly succeeds by using the years of classic gameplay as a foundation, building and soaring even higher than before.
