Sound & Spaces with Peter Cusack, Jean-Paul Thibaud & Aki Pasoulas Photos by Blanca Regina and Pierre Bouvier Patron Via Flickr: Sonic Waterloo presented Sound & Spaces with Peter Cusack, Jean-Paul Thibaud & Aki Pasoulas The talk will look at the subjects of sound and environment, followed by solo performances by Cusack and Pasoulas. Performances at IKLECTIK on the 6th of July 2017with Aki Pasoulas/Blanca Regina & Peter Cusack Jean-Paul Thibaud is a sociologist and Senior Researcher at CNRS (France). He is a researcher at CRESSON research laboratory (Research Center on Sonic Space and the Urban Environment / UMR1563 AAU). His field of research covers the theory of urban ambiances, ordinary perception in urban environment, anthropology of sound, sensory culture and ethnography of public places, in situ qualitative methodology. Jean-Paul Thibaud has published numerous papers on ur- ban ambiances and sensory atmospheres, and has recently published a book entitled En quête d'ambiances. Eprouver la ville en passant (Geneva: MétisPresses, 2015). Aki Pasoulas is a composer and a Lecturer in Music and Audio Arts at the University of Kent. His research interests include acousmatic music, time and timescale perception in relation to music, psychoacoustics and sound perception, spatial sound, acoustic communication, and soundscape ecology especially in relation to listening psychology. He has written for instruments, found objects, voice, recorded and electronic sound, composed music for the theatre and for short films, and organised and performed with many en- sembles.
