sry it's mean. 🗣 redivi and sonny,
Something a little easier on the eyes (Google Doc)
Send me a (🗣️) + two muses on my blog, and I’ll make them have a conversation whether they know each other or not!
“Good evening, Soniel.” Came the sound of Redivi’s voice from behind you. His presence startles you, and honestly you nearly jump out of your skin about it. No, today wasn’t the day he gave feedback on his classroom observation. A quick glance to a calendar sitting on the desk to your right confirms it.
His presence fills up the previously empty classroom, somehow taking up the entire room from where he stands. It’s almost suffocating.
“Ivey!” You muster up the most excitement that you can as you turn to face him, there is a hitch in your voice. One that he notices, indicated by the way he tilts his head slightly to the left. Relax. “What brings you by? I thought today was a cavern day!”
Another stolen look at your calendar says you are once again correct – In all of the planners and calendars that you own, his cavern days are marked with little hearts in alternating colors. Innocuous enough. A habit that formed around the first time Redivi elected to…Quit his habit. It helped calm your nerves when he couldn’t be found at the schoolhouse.
He smiles politely when you look back at him.
“I was only passing through. I thought it would be rude if I did not extend my greetings.”
Just saying hi? After everything he put your boys through? And he has the audacity to say hi.
But where your anger, or irritation, or annoyance, or any negative reaction should rise, only relief fills your belly. After everything with Theo, the cold shoulder he’d been given, it was easy to think Redivi’d written you off too. That without the extension of Theo, you were unworthy of his affections. Your fins flutter, a visual representation of the joy you did not expect to feel.
Then they fold in on themselves. Maybe it’s wrong to be happy about this.
His smile broadens as he watches the internal struggle fight its way to the surface. It makes your tummy hurt.
Why can’t you grow up? Be like Hirsch. Die like Hirsch? You won’t come back.
“Soniel, are you feeling alright? You look unwell.” He sounds genuine. Is he? Can he be? He’s never hurt you before.
You nod quickly, he glances toward the clock.
“Are you sure?” He asks without looking back at you.
“Yep! Never better.” You could make him stop, make him see how terrible he’s been. Guilt twists in your gut.
“If you are certain.” When he looks back at you, his gaze pierces into you. He takes up so much space. “Perhaps you can join me for lunch. You’ve no class for the rest of the evening, yes?”
“Uh. No! My schedule is all clear.” He hasn’t talked to Theo in weeks. Why are you so excited for this invite? Shouldn't you call him by his name? Force him to face what he’s done?
Your fins are fluttering. What about Marq and Hirsch?
“I would be very happy to join you!”
“Very well, I will wait for you outside.” Redivi says as he steps out of the room, he seems satisfied with you.
Then why are you wiping tears out of your eyes?
