I owe this man a lot. @sonnymillerfilms took me into the darkroom at Palomar College in 1980 and showed me how to print my negatives that I had accumulated over my first year of shooting skateboarding. That was the spark that got me to change my major from Art to Photography, became Sonny’s roommate in Cardiff and immersed myself in the study of photography. Not only was Sonny a great still photographer and cinematographer, he was also a great skateboarder, he was on the Del Mar Skate Ranch ASPO skate team in the 18 and over division. I shot this photo in 1980 on a surf trip to Rosarito Beach in Baja Mexico when we owned a share in a trailer at Teresa’s. Sonny Miller and I owned a trailer in Mexico at Teresa's in 1980 and we sessioned this pool in Rosarito Beach one weekend while on a surf trip. My friend Sonny Miller is gone from this life, but I will never forget him. His memorial service is tomorrow, July 18th, Friday night at 7pm at the First United Methodist Church, 341 S.
