the cafe that was on Lucy’s way home from class was busier than usual, but all that usually meant was a couple minutes’ extra wait to pick up her order. any extra wait was enough to give her a bit of a breather, but it was never enough to make her late for anything she might have in the evening, which wasn’t a concern for this evening.
but as she surveyed the bustle of people, one of the incoming customers caught her eye. he looked familiar from a distance, but surely that wasn’t--?
but it was, that was Eli. she looked away as soon as recognition clicked, and desperately hoped her food would be ready before he saw her.
