hi! your taste is so peak and I always am really happy to see your reblogs + tag commentary on my dash -- do you have any thoughts about cissie and the other yj girls post-yj? either how they were handled in-canon, or the direction you would've liked to see them go?
THANK YOU!! I have SEVERAL thoughts actually >:D thank you for the opportunity to yell about them!
I really like the idea of Cissie becoming an EMT after yj breaks up. I think she would want to continue to help people and I think her (brief) time as a field medic would've been really foundational in her realizing she can make an impact without being a vigilante still. In her early adulthood, Cissie changes up her look constantly. Nearly every time you see her she has a different haircut or hair color. I think she does a lot of things that are pretty pointedly exactly the opposite of something her mom used to say or do, both as a way of testing if her mom really has changed or just to try to figure out who she wants to be. It is also VERYYY important to me that adult-Cissie gains weight on purpose. She sometimes does very public work again—she might go back to the Olympics another year just to see if she can, and she might take some sporadic acting roles—but I think as she reaches her mid-20s she decides she doesn't like the spotlight anymore, even though now she's getting it for herself rather than for things her mother made her do.
Other girls under the cut:
Cissie, Anita, Greta, and Traya all stay in pretty close contact into their adulthood, and Cassie just sorta naturally drifts away from them a bit. I think it's probable that Cassie and Anita are still connected a good bit, since they are both involved in hero work still (I do not think Anita would ever truly want to give up being Empress), but I feel like Cassie struggles with the transition between teammate to friendship and it only gets worse as she gets older (I have A LOT of thoughts on Cassie having issues that I go into later on). The other girls get together semi-regularly and as they all move away from each other they have an active group chat.
I have a few career options in mind for Anita and I like them all pretty equally; I could definitely see her being an EMT along with Cissie and doing hero work on the side whenever she can (also in this version I think her and Cissie are roommates at some point), but I feel like that job wouldn't give her as much time to be Empress as she would want. Another option I like for her is physical therapist; she would still get to help people, but I would imagine it would give her much more consistent hours and much more time to be a vigilante. I could also DEFINITELY see her being briefly recruited to work for APES under Maad's guidance, but I don't think she would want to be in such a structured setting for her whole life so I don't think it would last. Also, backtracking a bit, I think there is NO chance that she would drop out of high school to take care of her parents, so if they end up having to grow up the long way then Maad definitely takes the lead so Anita can still live her life. I also think that Bonnie decides she is going to be a supportive figure as well, so she and Cissie move to be closer to the Fites. Other option is Anita goes to the same school as Cissie now and lives on campus so she can stay focused on her education and Bonnie and Maad tag-team caring for Don and Oshi, and they live close enough for Anita to visit frequently.
I think Greta would really crave consistency and a grounding existence in her adulthood, so I think she should work in a bakery while she figures out what she wants to do with the rest of her life. I feel like she would get really invested in activism regarding people being experimented on by the government. She would probably struggle with making that her entire life, though, and I don't think she wants the pressure of being expected to save people, so she tries to fill most of her life with as much normalcy as possible. Also I think she has a punching bag she uses FREQUENTLY.
I unfortunately do not have very many thoughts about Traya, but I think it would be really fun for her to go into something related to the law—especially after everything that happened with her dad not being recognized as a person and thus not being allowed to have custody of her. I could for sure see her either being a lawyer or getting involved in social work to some degree.
I have SO MANY thoughts about Cassie (hence why she is last), but I will TRY to be brief (also I strongly suspect she's become more of an OC in my brain, and therefore if this is ooc then it's simply because I have thought about her too much </3). A lot of it is the repressed lesbian narrative that tends to be pretty popular in the butch Cassie-truther circles, and thus it needs very little elaboration, but I ALSO think she should never have a healthy romantic relationship until she is at LEAST 35. She should struggle with balancing normal life and hero work forever and it ruins her life over and over, but she can't stop the cycle because she can't risk letting someone die or be hurt when she could've stopped it if only she wasn't busy being Healthy and Communicative and Normal (that's a lie, it's just her excuse because she is scared to let anything be as significant in her life as being a hero is). I don't think she ever has a consistent job and she mostly couch surfs. There are periods in her life where she struggles to talk to non-heros at all because she's too caught up in whatever it is she's doing and she doesn't always remember how to relate to people who aren't doing similar work. She definitely wants to stay in touch with the yj girls, but she probably only remembers to reach out a few times a year. Also I think her hair turns brown as she gets older and she bleaches it whenever she remembers, but she forgets a lot so she usually has like an inch of roots showing at any given time.
hii is it okay if i ask what you would hypothetically think about bart & greta’s relationship in the present (minus flashpoint + 52 i mean) i think it would be sooo cool however i have no coherent thoughts 😔
IT IS OKAY I LOVE GRETA AND BART <3 <3 <3 to me they are silly and annoying together forever and ever. They're one of those friendships where no one else wants to be in the room when they're together because they're simply too chummy. They feed off each other to a concerning point and everyone else has vacated the premises in case of radiation poisoning.
arguably going to war against an entire country as a teen with all your teen friends IS going apeshit, but she should get to go More. i really really like her i wish dc remembered she exists
it's GOTTA be i want to be evil by eartha kitt. i do, in fact, want to be evil. she's simply being factual (which should be the goal of all music, of course. why would anyone ever lie in art?!) 🙂↕️🙂↕️
