Best Authentic Thai Restaurants in New York City
If you know me, you know how much I love Thai Food. Ever since I was little, I was exposed to the world of Thai food, naturally I am extremely picky when it comes to this specific cuisine.
Living in New York City for the past 5 years, I was always on the hunt for the best authentic Thai restaurants. After 5 years of trying a dozen of Thai spots, here are a roundup of my personal favorites, only the best of course.
Fish Cheeks
55 Bond St, 212-677-2223

Well, this one is self-explanatory. If you know, you know. Fish cheeks is a cult favorite and an absolute stable in the city, for a reason. Located on Bond and Bowery, the restaurant is in the mixed of Soho and Lower East Side. With aesthetically pleasing ambiance that resembles a Thai casual diner, Fish Cheeks is known for their shareable plates specialized in seafood. The flavors are rich, and the portions are large, what more can you ask for. My personal favorite is the Coconut Crab Curry. The richness of the curry doesn’t overpower the freshness of the crab meat, it’s spicy but still light. Oh, and don’t forget to ask for their Frozen Spicy Mango. When I say it’s the best drink I’ve ever had, I freakin mean it.
Be aware though, their reservations do go fast. Luckily, you can easily make one now on Resy.
Soothr
204 E 13th St, 212-844-9789

A newcomer to the List, Soothr is a hidden gem located in East Village. Soothr is the Thai word for recipe, and the restaurant is created out of the shared passion of a couple of friends that grew up in different regions in Thailand. They wanted to share their special recipes with the world and Soothr is all about creating a warm and comfortable environment for guests. I first learned about it thru Tik Tok cuz it was trending, and I knew I had to try it out. Well, it was honestly out of this world amazing. I am a big fan of the Seared Duck Curry and the Ploychompu drink. I love their drink menu that’s named after crystals. I mean, hello!!
Anyways, go try it and thank me later. Resy.
Klong
7 St Marks Pl, 212-505-9955

One of the first Thai spots that I fell in love with, this one is located on Saint Marks. Klong is charming and very affordable. I love going there with a big group of friends and share a bunch of dishes. It’s a fun and very laidback environment which I really enjoy. The dishes that I love there are the curry dishes. They have couple selections for the curry lovers which include Green Curry, Red Curry, Panang, Yellow Curry and Massaman. My favorite is the Yellow Curry, but choose either one, you won’t be disappointed.
You can make your reservations by calling them.
Well, my mouth is watering just thinking about these dishes, brb, going to get some Yellow Curry for dinner.
xx
