I have some favourite Star Wars character, for whom i feel sad, that he ended up on the Dark side, and then killed. I feel, like he had such a potential, which was wasted, in my opinion. I feel, like Star Wars storyline is too black and white, too one sided. Like, you're a Jedi and support the Republic - you considered "good", you disagree with Jedi order and Republic - you are "bad" (while it is often pointed out in Star Wars how Galactic Republic being very corrupt, and Jedi order serving political interests rather than the Force). Instead, it could have explored, how and why he ended up on Dark side, which would probably make audience relate and understand him better, and i think, that it would make him better character.
Such black and white style of Star Wars storyline is typical not only for movies, but also for comics.
Character i wanna talk about is Sora Bulq, a Weequay male Jedi master. My interest in him, i think, is because he is a blade master, as i have always been interested in blades qnd fencing (thought never trying myself). However, his actual storyline is in Star Wars comics, which are now considered Legends, and doesn't count in Disney canon. Which is a big loss, i think - since Sora had mastered every form of lightsaber combat, it would be nice to see his mastery in "Clone wars", but nah :(
In the comics, Sora Bulq is a respected Master Jedi and lightsaber instructor, who gets dissillusionated in Jedi order and Republic, after many his fellow Jedi perish on the Geonosian arena.
Sadly, while his grief over Jedi lost on Geonosis was true, Bulq began falling to the Dark side, and his work on Dark side powered lightsaber form Vaapad together with Mace Windu only fascinated Bulq more. He then joined Count Dooku (who also was disappointed in Galactic Republic and Jedi order, only to fall to the Dark side and to have his arms chopped off and be killed by Anakin Skywalker, and who i think also deserved much better)
Some sources state, that Sora Bulq was philosophically inclined, but it is never shown in his storyline, Legends and Canon alike.
I love this question from Youtube:
In Star Wars, it is strictly black and white. I wish, that it was more complicated, smd in case with Sora, it could show his inner conflict, and choice he had to make, circumstances, that caused him to follow the dark path. Nothing of it happens, eventually making Sora Bulq just evil, and getting killed by Jedi Quinlan Vos.
Wookiepedia Legends about Sora Bulq
Sora Bulq was a Weequay Jedi Master from the Bulq family on Ruul. Renowned among the Jedi for his skill with a lightsaber, he mastered every
