a white collar crime

Hoseok shifted the box in his hands to prop against his hip, freeing a hand to adjust his glasses and check the false company ID hanging from the lanyard around his neck. He’d never been fond of the glasses he had to wear in the field. Even if they served multiple functions on top of the camera in the frames he always thought they looked to chunky on his face and slid down his nose. Maybe it was because he didn’t wear them much that they felt so awkward.
Hoseok wasn’t usually the one they called on for missions like this. Usually a field agent or someone in clan ops took care of the jobs involving hostages and kidnapping. Especially if it was an agent that was taken. Even now part of him wondered why he was even there. This wasn’t a new thought, though. He thought that half the time he got sent out. He could list off any number of reasons that he was chosen for the mission.
Most of all, though, it came down to timing. Someone needed into the building immediately and there were civilian office workers in the building. They needed someone who could slip in undetected. It wouldn’t hurt if he could get some info on their perp, either. Once he got to the agent he was sure he could leave most of the heavy work up to the professionals-- he was rescuing a field agent, after all. Hopefully things wouldn’t get too violent. He wasn’t good at dealing with guns.
Taking a deep breath, Hoseok let a smile slip onto his face as he caught eyes with the security guard. The guard reflexively smiled back and said, “Alright?” Hoseok nodded. She was new. Everyone was, making it easier to slip in unnoticed. He flashed his badge and after the guard checked his box of desk trinkets waved him through.
That was the easy part. Now came the fun part: tracking down the bad guys.
