"Nope. It's just vodka.”
Dan knew he shouldn't have done that. It wasn't his style to get into a discussion about anything, and less with someone as big as a werewolf, but he couldn't help it when it came to defending the equality of interraces marriage (especially when he was part of one, though he wasn't going to use that to prove his point). Now, after the werewolf had turned the discussion in a fight and broke his wing, he realized how bad of an idea it was. With his wing broken, a fairy as lazy as Dan was uncomfortable walking back home, but all he could think was getting to the safety of his house and into his sorcerer boyfriend's arms.
When he arrived, Phil was already waiting for him, because of the accident, a quick trip to the shop had turned into an hour walking down the streets and getting lost twice (he didn't usually took the pedestrian route). Of course, when he looked at him, he only got more worried.
"What on earth has happened to you?" he asked, hugging him.
"A werewolf was being an asshole about interrace couples being a disgrace for both species and I just happened to overhear it so... The fight got a bit physical and he broke my wing" Dan explained, his pointy ears turning red.
"Have you walked the whole way home?" Phil was surprised by this fact, knowing Dan he could have called a taxi-dragon to bring him home.
"Yeah, could you please fix it? It fucking hurts."
The other smiled sadly and guided him to his 'potion room'. Phil made him sit on an old couch while he started to read a book. Then he turned to Dan and inspected his left wing: the higher part of it was bended and it was a bit torn with the shape of three claws. The sorcerer touched slightly over that part and Dan hissed. It hurt a lot. Phil left out a sighed and went back to the book.
"The werewolf must have been strong, he has made a hole in your wing which is really hard to do."
"The asshole knew how to fight. Can you fix it?"
"Yeah, I think so. But it will take a while. And it will hurt." Dan let out a whine, while Phil didn't even looked up from his book.
He searched in a cupboard, and took out a transparent liquid, pouring it into a glass, then he took a moist substance that looked like boogers and mud had been mixed together.
"Here, drink this, you'll feel better" said Phil, handing him the glass.
"What is this? A magical potion to cure my wing?"
"Nope. It's just vodka, to help you with the pain." Dan looked at Phil's blue eyes, full of the seriousness that got over him whenever he had a job, but the fairy knew him better and could see how worried he was in reality. Dan drank the whole thing and Phil applied the weird thing on his wing, placing it on the wounds, while handing a towel for the fairy to bite into, as he didn't handle well the pain. He saw the gaps closing and leaving three scars on it that in a few weeks would disappear. Then the sorcerer took the whole wing and pushed it, like a human doctor would with a dislocated shoulder to put it back in place.
"Fucking hell!" shouted Dan. Phil smiled and kissed his head.
"All done, wanna have dinner?” The fairy looked at his boyfriend in disbelief. How on earth could he change from his 'serious-don't-talk-to-me-if-you-don't-want-me-to-shut-you-up-face' to his 'smiley-let's-have-pizza-while-watching-TV-face' in less than a minute?
Dan rolled his eyes and sighed, knowing how the sorcerer was and not caring about it.
“Yeah, sure. Pizza?”
Hours later they were in each other's arms, cuddling while watching a TV show. Phil was caressing carefully Dan's hurt wing, casting under his breathe a charm to take away his boyfriend's pain, who was almost asleep in his lap. Phil had promise himself that he would take care of that fairy with his life; he would do anything to make him happy. Maybe that was why he was so afraid when he had seen Dan coming home with his wing broken. He would be sure to not let him go out alone again, at least for a while. He wanted his partner to be safe and in his arms at the end of the day, not like this, laying in a weird position so his wing wouldn't hurt.
While Phil was into his thoughts, Dan slowly woke up and started incorporating himself. He pecked Phil's lips and then saw him frowning.
“Hey, what are you thinking about?” Phil wrapped his arms around the fairy's neck and kissed his forehead.
“I don't want to lose you because of a dumb fight with a werewolf,” he blurted.
“What? Are you still worried about today? Phil, I'm fine” Dan took Phil's face in his hand and made him look at him “See? I'm fine”
“You are fine today. But what if they had hit you harder, or anywhere else? I couldn't have forgive myself for not being there to help you”
“Phil, I'll be okay. I can take care of myself” Phil laughed without humor, looking at his wing with an eyebrow raised. “Hey! I can, okay? Now stop worrying and kiss me, you spork.”
Phil rolled his eyes, smiling and kissed him on his nose, then stood up, seeing Dan's look full of indignation
“That's not fair” he said, standing up.
“You didn't specify” Phil laughed, letting Dan get closer to him and kiss him on the lips. He was right after all, what matter was that he had survived today, tomorrow would be a different day but, for now, he didn't have to worry about it.
