I love them all I do I swear I do, but of all of them it's definitly Cedric. I feel I have a lot more in common and it'd be easier for us to be in sync for it. There's a lot of harmony I feel already with him. So I love Silco and Claude DEARLY. but yeah it's 100% Cedric.

claude likes feasts / celebrations but he would hate his birthday. he's too much of a workaholic to feel like any of his achievements are complete, they are each simply their own stepping stone to the next accomplishment / challenge / task, and so celebrating those achievements is difficult and feels premature, and others celebrating those achievements feels fake and conceited. his isolation in childhood, lies at garreg mach, and then kingship in adulthood means even his genuine friendships feel balanced, practiced, and worse during events when gifts and declarations are supposed to be met with his favour.
even if claude can let go of the internal dialogue of 'what do you want from me?' when people celebrate his birthday, it would be very hard for him to silence 'how can i be what you want from me?' because he doesn't want to lose those extensions of kindness, even when he can't trust them not to be duplicitous.
he's happy when the day (and the performance) is over.

Apparently he's Daddy's Favorite anyway and messing with Fodlan ain't the only way to ascend to the throne - and it's not like he's doing much to alleviate the tensions between foreign relations and Fodlan by pulling the shit he does. Just!! He should fuck off and leave if he wants to so badly!! Either that or stop whining and just do his shit LIKE HE DOES IN 3H.
I can excuse some whining if the person doing it earned it, or if it's in small doses, but man Clopes blows through both of those and becomes straight up ANNOYING to have to hear bitch about being busy after HE GAVE HIMSELF THE WORK (and after he's fucked over completely innocent people)
Him being the king's favourite is what I consider a soft retcon; i think there was a user kicking around here that compiled a list of moments where Claude talks about home being a place he ran away from, which does not scream to me that he was indeed the king's favourite son. And, I'll say that we know fuck all about what wins the crown in Almyra; for all we know, military prowess is the standard way, and how Claude does it in Houses is considered novel. The sad thing is that we'll likely never know, because the game and its writers cannot be bothered to flesh out Almyra.
The rest of this, though, I've always very much agreed with; Claude's complaints ring hollow as all fuck when he's the biggest source of all the work that weighs down on him. He creates his own problems for no other reason than he can (i.e., it's not written coherently), and then I'm supposed to feel bad for him. I don't.
