Daybreak
i still see you standing there in the tall grass with your face held down now bittered by the cold
i remember how trees left the fall of their own lives and how the breaths of hundreds could never keep you warm
i dreaded each day woke up with hope that maybe one day you’d see a light in your own eyes but you never did you never could you never would admit that this wasn’t all so bad
i laid there breathless too many words already left me i laid there motionless afraid to make a move everything i’ve done i know could have been painted brighter
but it’s you and there’s nothing i can do please don’t take your own life let both suns lay on their own to build each day past the worry and let the sun in through the blinds
i can’t promise you but i know just what you want these days are cold and lifeless and empty veins sprawl down your arms
but the trees, they do come back to follow her up the hilltop to bring each day new light to bring a chance this year to be more than what they are
