I couldn't upload a file for "Anna Sun" because all the files I found were too large for Tumblr to handle. So I had to use a Spotify one. Tis why the format for that audio file is so different.
.
Alright. So there's actually a pretty interesting backstory to how I found "Anna Sun" and Walk the Moon.
I actually found them two or three years ago on YouTube. I don't exactly remember how but I did. I saw some videos of Walk the Moon playing for a small audience (like this acoustic video of "Anna Sun"). Actually, I think I saw the music video for "Anna Sun" at the time when it was released in November 2010. Or maybe I saw it early 2011. Either way, I remember watching it when it wasn't uploaded onto a VEVO account.
But somehow, I never followed up with Walk the Moon. I don't really know why because I do remember thinking that "Anna Sun" was a pretty good song. And that the music video was cool cuz it was recorded all in one go. I don't understand why I didn't pay more attention to them.
So, after Walk the Moon and "Anna Sun" became really popular, I listened to it again and was like, "Wait a second here. I know this song. I knew this. What." I searched up the music video and was like, "Yup. Definitely remember watching this one afternoon at home during sophmore year."
Now, I'm really mad at myself for not keeping up with Walk the Moon. I feel really stupid. ._. I feel stupid that I knew a song when it wasn't that popular and not really caring too much because I don't know why. There's that feeling you get when something you've known before becomes really popular and then everyone else loves it too. And you're just sitting there all like, "But I knew it before all of you..." Like me and "Gangnam Style". I saw it when it came out on July 15, got over it by August, then boom, everyone in the USA and eventually the whole world loves it. And I was just like, "No. Guys. Stop. This song isn't even that great. How. How does it grow in popularity like that? No guys. Stop." Gah. Anyway, I'm getting off track.
But I still feel stupid for not listening to more Walk the Moon and getting into them when I first found them a couple years ago. a;kfj;dsklfa ._.
Anyway. That was my little ranting. I don't think I'll ever get over how stupid I was to forget about Walk the Moon after finding them. ._.
So "Anna Sun". I still really like the music video. Like I said before, the fact that it was all filmed in one take was pretty awesome. I actually really like these kinds of music videos. So far, I only know of one other music video like this. I think. It's a KPOP song called "Love Song" by Big Bang.
I also like the rock and pop/electronic style to "Anna Sun". It all mixes together well and no one genre overdoes the other. (actually, there may not be any pop/electronic in this song. i think it may all just be an electric guitar and a keyboard. oh well.) The main singer's, Nicholas Petricca's, voice is pretty good too. I dunno how to explain it. I just like voices that have that kind of timbre, that kind of sound to it. Like the soft and slightly, very slightly, raspy sound? I dunno. His voice is just nice.
So yeah. I still feel really dumb. Gah. I need to get over this. ._. In the meantime, I'll just listen to "Anna Sun" on replay pretending that I actually really did know them since "Anna Sun" came out in 2010.
