Maybe it’s in the name. His name sounds like it’s a page ripped straight out of a coming-of-age novel. The way it just rolls off your tongue so smooth, so suburban, it’s almost like poetry. It’s the kind of name that if you possess you have to introduce yourself using your first and last, as without one another, sound so plain, yet, when spoken together, sound so blatantly elaborate, you want to get to know them just because of the way it’s impossible to pronounce their name in a manner that’s not utterly dreamlike - they depend on each other, in a way.

Maybe it’s his arrogant yet strikingly charming disposition. Or the way he makes you feel like you can let your guard down whenever you’re with him, yet, he’s the reason you have your guard in the first place - armed, twenty four seven, refusing to back down. It’s his ability to be the one person who makes you feel like you can finally let a deep breath out after holding yours in, face red, lightheaded all day. Yet, he remains, the emotional roller coaster that won’t stop twisting and twisting and turning and turning, the one you never even asked to get on in the first place, but unknowingly entered the queue, when you began texting him. You hopped on the creaky, unstable, and dangerous yet beautiful, exhilarating and abundantly exhausting ride when you buckled in, in his car.
