Gender, conceptually

The Amuki have a really loose concept of gender. Like, they talk about it, and they have words for biological sex, but there are no male v. female pronouns, no gendered nouns, no gendered titles.

This might be in part because all of their peoples are relatively similar in size, unlike the Wia and the Sothl, who divide their peoples based off of this arbitrary decider. In both other countries, there is a larger divide in size between the two sexes.

Black

Sothl - the people of the rich and fertile river - believe that black is a good color. Black is nurturing, black is the color of fertile soil.

To the Amuki - plains people who have freed themselves but not forgotten - black is a good color. Black is the color of secret doings, of secret meetings, of secret fleeing. Black is the color of freedom, and you will always find an Amuki carrying something black because they are all free now.

Wia - the people of the wooded forests - black is a bad color. Black is the color of deception, the color of loss. Black is the shroud of night that hides thieves, and black is the soil that piles on top of loved one as they are sent their final rest. Black is uncertainty and fear.
