How I have been officially infected with Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers brainrot:

I'm about to complete and post my second Bucky one-shot in four days. In case you didn't know, that is record-breaking fic writing speed for me.

Within those same 4 days, I gained 7 new followers that are all Bucky/Sebastian blogs. Hello, New Friends!

Last night, after I slept off a low-grade fever, I woke up with two new fully-fleshed ideas for Steve x Reader one-shots.

I'm listening to Love Song playlists these days, and I swear every other song I hear sparks another Bucky or Steve romance idea. Like, what even is this?!

It's not like this MCU obsession is unprecedented; before returning to Tolkien, I did Marvel roleplay for a solid 10 years. My total creative output would have been hundreds of thousands of words written, just not in fic format.

What does that mean for this blog and my writing?

Let's be absolutely clear that this is still and will remain a Tolkien-centric blog! I'm just running with the inspiration and writing energy I'm getting from these two blorbos. I haven't made any real progress on my Tolkien fics for many weeks, and I just need to write. I'm sure you all get it. :)

I'm sure the brainrot will calm down and I will make it back to Tolkien "regular programming".

My MCU Masterlist is going to grow, and I would really appreciate it if any of my Mutuals who are in the MCU fandom could show the fics a little love. (and thank you to those who already have!)

If I can somehow convert some Mutuals into loving these two characters, that would just be the BEST ACHIEVEMENT!

PS. I've been wanting to get a Corkcicle coffee mug for a while now, and THIS design happened to be on sale, so I snagged it! If that's not a Sign, I don't know what is.

SotWK Updates

Why is it already so unfathomably cold up here?? This is California for pity's sake!

My credit cards are already smoking; I need to console my bank account. Making Christmas "magical" for the kids is expensive, y'all. But so worth it. <3

I have fallen behind on pretty much everything here, and I hope you can forgive that if you're waiting or expecting something from me.

If things finally calm down a bit now that I've finished most of my decorating and shopping, I am on the cusp of completing two of my WIPs. Just maaaaaybe I'll have something to post soon!

I was hoping to put out at least one or two new Yuletide in the Elvenking's Realm ficlets this season, but that would require a Christmas miracle. I do believe in Christmas miracles, though.

Other than that--I really do hope you (who are reading this) are having as Merry a Holiday Season as is possible. If there is anything at all I can do to bring even just a little cheer to your season, my Ask Box is open.

I had a much longer post typed up in my drafts forever but I'm just gonna send this shorter version out:

My 2025 has opened to mixed reviews. I am mostly well, but very busy! Some good things have happened, but some bad things too (to people close to me). In other words, life is as usual, just rolling by fast!

Thank you so much to everyone who has continued to tag me and send Asks. I WILL get around to responding, and to getting a bit of activity back gradually.

I will post more updates soon. Just wanted everyone to know I am well, but more importantly, I hope you are too. ❤️

Holiday updates!

Unfortunately, it looks like I wouldn't be able to deliver on my Yuletide in the Elvenking's Realm this Christmas season, as I had planned. Although I have been having a very merry (albeit hectic) holiday season offline with my family, my Tumblr experience since Thanksgiving has been rather bah-humbug.

I'm not sure why; my Moots are being lovely as usual, but overall the vibes are off. Perhaps it is a *me* issue. I feel oddly out-of-place and even rejected because I noticed a weird, sudden drop in my follower count (by like 10+)--which is possibly a site glitch, but it's disconcerting nonetheless. I know Follower count doesn't matter here, but you cannot truly care about your Followers as individuals without tracking how many there are, could you? And I do happen to care about each person that chooses to follow me; I'm not cool enough to pretend not to notice.

Anywayyyyy... on top of that humbug-ness, I have been experiencing crippling writer's block for weeks. It's not even that I cannot seem to write; I actually am hating my writing right now! And when I try to read my talented friends' fics for inspiration, I just feel more disappointed in my own (perceived) lack of skill. This is a normal feeling for a writer that happens to everyone occasionally, but it's pretty bad. If this type of writer burnout is allowed to fester, it's what often leads writers to quit. So I'm trying to be careful and gentle with myself and not push too hard.

I don't want to work on any of my precious WIPS when I'm in this kind of mood; the sourness would seep into my writing! Especially my Yuletide series, which is supposed to be filled with joy and hope! So alas, that would just have to wait another year.

But now for some positive news! My dear husband has bought me a new laptop for Christmas! He's a stickler for rules and tradition, so I can't open it until Christmas Day, but once I set it up, my sister can give me her gift--the Scrivener software!

I've decided to spend the rest of December taking it easy by not pushing myself to produce anything; instead I will just try to set myself up for a strong start to 2025 when I come back from my post-Christmas vacation (going on a road trip to see family). The new laptop and software should give me a little boost! :) And I gotta go learn how to use Scrivener now--lol!

I hope everyone reading this is having as good a Christmas season as possible. <3 This is the time of year when I truly wish everyone can experience joy and peace, whatever or however you celebrate. Starting a tag list just for my Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes fics.

I'm about to post my third MCU fanfic! While I will remain primarily a Tolkien blogger/writer, I think I should accept that I need an MCU sub-masterlist now. 'Cause these silly self-indulgent romance fics are probably not going to stop haunting me coming.

Happy August, everybody! Sending positive vibes and hopeful energy on this new month.

What's up or new with me? Let's see...

Still afflicted with ESD: Eomer Simping Disease. Apologies to those who are starting to tire of the simping posts. You may place some of the credit blame on my beloved Mutuals who keep feeding and exacerbating the condition. At this point it may be incurable.

Trying to recover from my family vacation before I have to go on another mini road trip to visit other family before the end of summer.

I wasn't even able to complete a fic all of last month, but fingers crossed that I can remedy that very soon. Finishing my promised Eomer WIPs are my priority, but in terms of headcanon posts, I am working on responses to several Asks about my Thranduilion Princes, which I am always happy to receive and work on!

Debating on whether or not to participate in #THAUC (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Collaboration), a writing event by @fellowshipofthefics. I love collaborating as much as the idea of collaborating makes me nervous. You know how that goes.

Wrestling with my budget because I MUST order more commissioned artwork soon. Because I want to. Mama works hard and deserves pretty things.

I am still gaining New Followers steadily (welcome to my chaos, everyone!), which is puzzling and amazing and wonderful and scary and OMG I hope I don't let you down.
