The Joy of Cooking. Salam, mother-in-law of Georgina, beams as she teaches us how to make Kibbeh Nayeh, an old traditional dish of raw goat meat and bulgur (cracked wheat), in Zgharta, Lebanon. All around the world, the happiest and healthiest elderly we met were the ones harvesting olives alongside their grandchildren, picking grapes during the "vendimia" (grape harvest in Spain), making preserves and cheese for the family's pantry, or helping to cook a big family dinner. Even if they were only able to help for 30 min, an hour or two, the fact that they were still able to partake in an event that aided their loved ones added value to their lives, fulfilled their hearts, and gifted them a will to live. Everyone in life needs a purpose to be happy, to feel alive and to feel young. This is evident in Salam's ageless smile bursting with life and love. Cheers to treasuring our elderly and allowing them to add value to our lives and theirs!!! 💘 #therecipehunters #madewithlove #grandma #love #life #happiness #eattheworld #livelovelebanon #soukeltayeb (at Zgharta)
