6.25.2016 The spirit of #michaeljackson lives in through this little kid right here! Today marks the 7 year anniversary of the passing of the #kingofpop, so many of his fans today are mourning the loss of his presence, but I choose to celebrate the King's life in a more positive way... By spending my time sharing stories from his career/life along with his signature moves to one of favorite students I've ever had. Funny but true story: Last week before our class, I was telling Tommy about how many of today's pop artists were influenced by Mike from his costumes to special effects, and even his vocal ranges. For example, I told him, Beyonce is a HUGE fan of Michael and you can see it in her live shows. Then he said to me with a very confused look on his face, "Who?" I said "wait, you don't know who Beyonce is?" He said no. Then I asked him if he's ever heard of Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus, or Lady Gaga, etc etc etc to all of which he replied "I've never heard of these people. Are they American actors?" I said to him, "yo there's no way you can't know who these people are. Do you listen to music? What kind of music do you listen too other than Michael Jackson?" Then he said, "I only listen to Michael Jackson..." I still didn't believe him so I told him to show me his phone so I can see what's in his music player. He showed it to me and I started scrolling through his music... All Michael Jackson tracks! And not just albums he even had his live mixes on it too! At that moment I swear I almost shed a tear, feeling like the proudest dance teacher in the whole world!
