#Repost @soullabels with @repostapp ・・・ Join us at the Total Refreshment Centre on the 20th of August as Soul Labels presents Palm Wine Beats – Live!, a one day festival celebrating the genius of Africa and her diaspora. @LoFiOdysseys will be transforming VOL 1 into a special audio-visual rescoring and presenting an audio preview of VOL 3. They’ll be a Jùjú music workshop with the incredible Akano Rhythm Brothers, in house radio broadcasts/interviews with artists and record collectors from We Need To Talk About, panel discussion on the future progress of Africa's cultural archive with (Kwaku (@BritishBlackMusic), Quinton Scott (@StrutRecords), Bekke Popoola (@BlackBritishGirlhood) plus many more. Following on from this will be live sets from the PWB house band featuing Hackney songstress MeaKoom, Afro-futurist Chongo and a rare set from the Hunters Beat King, Blackman Akeeb Kareem: the Curtis Mayfield of Nigerian music and a Afro-fusion legend who deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Fela Kuti and King Sunny Ade. He's been making music for more than 40 years, has recorded up to 16 albums and will be revisiting cuts from his 1977 classic LP “Tomorrow” for the first time in the UK. Ending the night and shaking up the dance for this super special, will be selectors Chief Commander Yaabaand Volta 45. | Tickets http://bit.ly/29J1lrc #palmwinebeatslive #soullabels #Africa #AfricanCulture
