Sometimes I feel like I'm in the minority by feeling like Rin is a top??? I honestly assumed Top!Rin to be fandom consensus and have been shocked at the amount of Bottom!Rin I see. Obviously people can headcanon anything they want to and there's no actual wrong answer, but Rin is 100% top in my opinion lmao. Which is probably why I feel like he and Sousuke are incompatible as a couple bc Sousuke is also hella top energy.
This is why SouMakoRin is the only solution for Sousuke and Rin to be in a relationship :P they need Bottom!Makoto to fill that role in the bed (and their hearts 🥰)

The club advertises him as "Officer Rin" but on stage they announce him simply as "Rin." His routine involves coming out in a policeman's uniform—not a real one like that worn by one of his childhood friends, who went to the academy instead of university and who calls him Rin but doesn't know about his life on stage at Club Splash Free.
When he finishes on stage tonight he goes to circulate on the floor like all the dancers do; it's part of their contract. There are a bunch of middle-aged and older men like always, but there are also a couple of young guys, or at least they look young from the back.
So Rin goes up behind them and says in his sexy stripper voice, which sounds exactly like his normal voice because Rin is not about to fake sexiness; men either find him sexy or they don't, and that's what makes him sexy, and that's what makes him Rin—
He goes up behind the young-looking-from-the-back "gentlemen" and says, "Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"
"Um, well, I'm pretty happy to see you," Makoto says as he turns around.
"Mine's a gun," Sousuke, next to Makoto, says.

I held a twitter poll about what to write for Rin's birthday and soumakorin won! So here's a short and sweet birthday fic for my favorite redheaded shark boy.

All Rin could hear was the rustling of paper and Sousuke and Makoto’s hushed voices. He’s sitting at his kitchen table, eyes closed and hands covering them, to make sure he doesn’t peek, as Sousuke said. The other two had said they had a surprise for him and while he had repeatedly told them they didn’t need to get him anything for his birthday, his stomach was still filling with butterflies at the prospect of a gift. Whatever it was, Rin was sure that he would love it, because his boyfriends had never gotten him anything he didn’t like.
“Okay Rin, open your eyes,” came Makoto’s voice from somewhere in front of him.
Doing as he was told, Rin pulled his hands away from his eyes and opened them to find Makoto holding out a single sheet of paper to him. Confused, he took it, skimming over the words briefly before his gaze was drawn to the photograph of a small, cozy looking house.
“I don’t understand,” Rin said, looking up at Sousuke and Makoto in confusion. “You got me a picture of a house?”
Sousuke snorted at that before moving beside Rin and pointing out something on the paper. “Read this.”
Rin read the words next to Sousuke’s finger, eyes widening as he took them in. “It’s for sale… Does this mean…?”
“Yeah, it does. We thought, if you wanted to, of course, we could all get this house? Move in together for your birthday gift. We’ve been talking about it and Sousuke and I thought this would be the best time to ask,” Makoto said, grinning brightly as Rin stared at him.
Looking between the two of them and then back at the paper, Rin felt his eyes start to swim with tears. He dropped the paper and got to his feet, pulling both his boyfriends into a tight hug. Unable to keep the happy tears from escaping his eyes, he cried freely as he clung to them.
“This is probably the best gift you’ve given me yet,” he said, laughing and crying as Sousuke and Makoto wrapped their arms around him and kissed his cheeks.
Okay but seriously this looks like a drama love triangle. SouRin in a relationship or prerelationship when Mako comes into the picture and meets Rin and now he's contemplating what to do.
Makoto comes highly recommended by Nao, the only other cyborg either Sousuke or Rin know, but even if he didn't they wouldn't have much of a choice - their situation doesn't exactly permit much debate over consult-worthy mechanics.
"Dear Lord," Makoto mumbles, peeling back the secondary metal coating of Sousuke's automail, "How many guns do you have in here?"
"He has three," Rin answers for him, and when Makoto looks up at them both with a nearly insulted expression, he just shrugs. "Like we said: bounty hunters."
I've always had the headcanon that soumakorin were especially into dog shows! Rin appreciates the judging system/competitiveness and soumako appreciate the dogs lol
