Last Season 2 episode!

It’s finally here: the last episode of our 5-person discussion of the music of Glee Season 2 and asking the question “Did Glee do it better”. We start off by powering through the Fleetwood Mac covers that no one really wants to talk about. We also hear Jen give a negative score to a Darren Criss song (gasp!). Aaron introduces “Asterisk Rachel” further muddling his Rachel Fan-boy status. We also seem to collectively have a problem figuring out which version of which song we’re talking about, but that shouldn’t be too surprising at this point. It is hour 8 of our discussion after all.  We also go through the final scores for this season. This episode covers episodes 19-22 of the season.

In this episode:

After an actual break, we reconvene to take down the second half of Glee, Season 2. Resting seems to have made us more efficient as we actually manage to get through episodes 13-15 in this session. We don’t fight too too much in this one. Well, at least we don’t fight any MORE that usual. You’ll get to hear Aaron become completely dumbfounded of an analysis from Stanley. You’ll also hear us talk about one song that we though Glee did really well, but it just couldn’t overcome the original. As usual, a good time was had by all…because you care about that.

The day is long and our drinks are gone but we’re still making good progress. In this episode we start off with the dreaded Christmas episode. Lines are drawn in the sand and no compromises are reached. The whole thing devolves into a battle about 80′s, Christmas, chestnuts and…racism?  And that’s just the first 15 minutes of this episode. Later we get into it over Destiny’s Child and Aaron gives a score that Brice and Stanley just can’t condone. This is probably the most divided that we’ve been on a set of songs during this entire series. After a  lot of back and forth we do manage to make it all the way through episode 12 of the season.

We’re back to continue our discussion of the music from the TV series, Glee. This time around we’re dealing with the music of season 2. Which means new songs and new characters (most notably, the Warblers). After releasing our season 1 series, we got some feedback from fans of the TV series. So, this time we’ve decided to bring in some help from a couple of people who are better representatives of the Glee fandom than we are: Jen and Catherine. We can all guess that adding in fans of the show would affect the scores, but will they be able to affect our opinions?

Season 2 is in full swing. We get through this episode with only a couple of small technical difficulties. You….probably…won’t even notice them. Even though the conversation’s hitting a stride we have plenty of time to go off and talk about some Broadway performers, the Superbowl, and Aaron’s alleged love of Lea Michelle. We also figure out that someone seems to have no idea what’s going on in some of the show’s episodes (and it’s not Stanley this time).

In this episode:

Catherine’s back and now we can continue going through season 2 of Glee. With now technical difficulties and our drinks largely consumed, we can focus on how we feel about these songs. We didn’t give the scores some of us expected to and there was plenty of conflict to go around.

We’re back to continue our Glee series and start on season 2. However, this time, we’ve decided to bring in some help from a couple of people who are better representatives of the Glee fandom than we are. We’ll see if mixing in true fans of the show affects the overall opinions that are expressed. Of course, since we’re adding new people things are bound to go wrong…aren’t they?

Catherine and I join in! I haven't listened yet, just was there for recording...oh man.
