Vinyl – an old-fangled type of sound carriers
Could you imagine listening to a vinyl record? If you think this way of listening to music is obsolete or vinyl records have a bad sound quality, let me convince you of the opposite.
In 1887, the first vinyl record was invented by Emil Berliner and consisted of zinc. Besides, he was the first to invent a device which could make the vinyl record’s information audible. The following history is characterized by technical improvements of vinyl record and record player. The invention of long-playing records (LP), which are made of plastic, banned shellac records from the music market in the late 1940s and early 1950s. In the 2000s, the boom of LPs descended. The selling increases strongly since 2015, so that many producers can’t stand the rising demand.
From my experience, I can tell you that vinyl records are the best way to listen to music. Record players are not portable like Spotify and co but long-playing records have decisive advantages what refers to sound and material quality. In comparison to CDs and cassettes, vinyl is the less destructible and will last its entire life. The sound quality is better due to the record groove and its associated varied treble and bass.
LPs and record players are expensive but the investment is worth it. If you have luck, your vinyl records value will increase. That should be reason enough to buy and collect vinyl records.
