Chris is back. Girlfriend is a triumphant start to a new chapter after an extended absence. The track immediately captures the vibe with g-funk guitars, dreamy synths and an uplifting chorus with the power to unearth ancient artifacts. Within the opening moments, we find ourselves steeped in one of the best new songs of 2018.
I was a huge fan of her last release, Christine and the Queens. With tracks Tilted and iT. She captured a youthful spirit that was relatable across generations. With her new release, I feel that I’ve grown in that same time with her. So much so that while the change in sound was surprising; it channeled an vein of swagger and raw energy that helps me feel more in tune with myself than ever before.
