EVENT #2 RECAP !

a fight for family & a fight with family.

the exploration begins with many people observing their strange new surroundings. whether it be the rocks, the plants, or— the clearest stream the gang had encountered. many indulged in the water, quenching their thirst while others found alternatives such as taking a dip in the cool stream. one of these being nurse anya cassel’s one year old daughter, lucy. underestimating the depth, it wasn’t long until the child was fighting for her life. many people jumped in to save her, including: marquis nowak, nicolette bhatt, purnelle hawthorne and captain johannes kraus. 

after their heroic advances, tensions erupt as the montague family engages in an inner feud that is joined by prince jasper blackhart and captain johannes. as the party breaks, king magnus blackhart steps in to speak with his brother which doesn’t go quite according to plan. 

the quarrels between the families is quickly forgotten as a select few who had drank from the stream go rabid and begin attacking people. king nathaniel winnell is attacked despite lacking his sword and his captain, nicholas steele, is quickly at his rescue. cleo windsor is attacked by her own friend. unable to defend herself, it isn’t until pandora kron steps in that she is promised another day to live. a dracboroughian guard goes rogue, attacking pyros heo. the two duel it out until the duke puts an end to the guard. princess victoria montague is targeted next by her dear friend. as her brother, prince theodore montague and captain johannes join in to save her, it is ultimately king henry montague who ends her life. the bard, talsgar viarmo, is the last target. despite being a large man, he’s defenseless against his attacker until the knight, derrek maurer, comes to his aid. 

the victims withstand several injuries but nothing fatal but the question remains: what had the water done to them ?

CONGRATULATIONS ! the gods have chosen your character to obtain a favorable outcome from drinking the magical water of the stream. your character has been granted: good luck; the opportunity to not shift for the night. a temporary solution, this should reveal to your character that drinking the water inhibits shifting, perhaps you should take some home to zenan !

He waited patiently for night to arrive. After most of his clothes had been soaked in the stream, he hardly wanted to wear them to begin with. Still, he’d resigned himself to putting his linen vest back on, and dealing with the dampness of his pants as he lurked at the tree-line, as he did most nights. He’d likely hide himself further once he felt the shift begin, but for now he had simply resigned himself to dozing under a tree, knowing that there wouldn’t be much sleep during the night. Honestly, he could only hope not to encounter his sister in the darkness, knowing her anger would be so much more fierce in her animalistic form than anything else.

As the sun began to set, Theo’s eyes fluttered open and he waited, patiently, ready to strip off the last of his clothes when he felt the familiar burning in his spine. He let his eyes slip closed once again as the warmth of the air settled around him and cooled, and before long he could no longer see the orange-ish rays of the sun creating a halo on the horizon. A frown formed on his face as the minutes passed and the burning was nowhere to be felt. It hadn’t taken him this long to shift in years, at least since the curse had began.

It didn’t feel as if something was wrong, but there was a sort of calmness that washed over him. For once, although the moon shone bright above the trees now, his skin did not stretch and break, his bones did not contort, and his mind did not leave him. At least, not completely. The Norden prince found himself wandering further out of the trees, confirming that the moon had risen in place of the sun, and forcing the blonde to his knees.

He let out a sob of absolute relief, fingers digging into the grass below him. He was no doubt causing a bit of a scene, but after the events of today, he couldn’t be bothered to care much. He let himself fall fully to the ground, his mind wandering through the events of the day. Everything had seemed a blur–from his happiness, to his anger. He’d felt his heart swell in many ways, although the most painful moment was seeing his twin sister, battered and broken and covered in her own blood, plus the blood of a friend. Letting out another quiet sob, Theo let his arm fall over his face. 

Still, he did not move back towards the tents. He lay there, in the grass, near the trees, wondering if Victoria had received the same fate as him–he listened, to see if he could hear her cries in any form. Although he absolutely despised his shift, he knew for her it was an escape, and thinking that her escape was taken away from her in such a difficult time made him hurt. Although the prince thought briefly of moving to find her, his body instead relaxed further into the ground, unable to move. Even if he did not sleep, he would lie here to relax until morning.

EVENT #01 RECAP !

& the walls came tumbling down in the city that we love.

as the kingdoms spent the night in remembrance of the attack on bearoria, the night was filled with laughter and joy. many danced the night away while others indulged themselves in the food of the new world. after everyone was filled to the brim with rolls and danced until their feet bled, the kingdoms met outside for a display of fireworks. the night sky was lit up with the traditional bearorian colors: blue and gold. however, it wasn’t until one of the fireworks had gone awry and the castle became engulfed in flames.

with nothing but a burnt castle, the royals and their entourages are now forced to live in tents for the remainder of their trip in this new land.

ONE, TWO THREE.

three whole hours past dusk. hours past the time when henry should have shifted. he should have long since felt the crack of his bones, the ripping of flesh, the pain of transformation and the fear of hurting someone… but he had not felt any of it. the moon held its position high in the sky, overlooking the dense, deep woods behind the castle. henry stared at it, tired eyes not blinking, from his position on the ground. helpless. waiting. scared. why was he not shifting ??

he spent the next hour counting as many stars as he could. the castle was no longer emitting any light with torches or fires, so the measurably smaller tent city was blocking much less view of the stars. but even naming them — somehow managing to remember the names that his elderly, star-loving governess had taught him as a child — brought him no closer to calmness.

it was not the not shifting that frightened the king the most, for he had done that before — when holding the wolf back, that is. but the animal would always CLAW and scratch at his chest, making sure he knew the mistake he was making, making sure he knew the hell he’d pay when he finally let it free. but now, under the canopy of trees, sitting on the damp ground…

he felt nothing.

no clawing, no scratching, no temper, no… anything. it was as if the wolf was GONE, though henry knew that to be false; for they were one and the same, he and the wolf. he had told victoria much of the same, just hours before. had he been wrong ?? was his age some sort of factor in this strange occurrence ??

no, surely not. his father lived to be his current age, and he still shifted — did he not ?? it would not have been the first time his father had lied to his son, to be sure... but henry could still clearly recall his father’s limp coming home from the woods ( not unlike his own ), the blood on his clothes from the night before, the stench of his breath after a fresh kill under the moonlight. and so henry was at a loss as to what could have possibly occurred to stop his shift, until —

— THE WATER !!

the water from the stream. it had affected so many others, had it not?? it had caused people to be attacked, almost killed… it changed people, it made then ill. had it changed him — had it changed his children ?? was the change permanent ?? did he want it to be ??

with no answers to be found, he knew, until morning, henry lied back onto the damp, soft soil of the small clearing he’d found. he knew of only one thing, as his mind rushed through so many thoughts and possibilities: if it had been the small stream’s water that had apparently cured ( if only presently ) his familial curse, henry needed it for his own. if teshayra held the secret, held the holy grail of everything he needed —

OH, HEAVENS ! the gods have chosen your character to obtain an unfavorable outcome from drinking the magical water of the stream. your character has been granted: bad luck; they’ve grown ill from the water ! this illness replicates symptoms of the flu. your character will undergo an additional side effect such as brief hallucinations while ill. however, after some time, the illness will fade just as any other !

Magnus woke up feeling groggy and his throat was hurting as well, he rarely got sick and of course he would get sick while they were so far from Ironhaven and when so many people were watching but no, a simply flu wasn’t going to stop him, it didn’t matter how sick he felt he was going to do everything he had to do, it would be laughable that the king of Ironhaven was taken down by a simple illness. 

He began to get ready to his morning duties when in the corner of his eye he saw something, though there was nothing there when he looked, he shook his head, feeling silly but then he looked at the bed and he saw it, his father’s body cold and as clear as the day he had seen it first, but it wasn’t a memory it was there. Magnus stood there frozen and after a few blinks the corpse was gone but Octavius was in front of him, as if nothing had happened. He looked so disappointed as well. 

“Magnus that crown is too big for you. I thought I thought you better. i suppose I didn’t.” Magnus shook his head again, it had to be a dream, because Octavius Blackhart was dead.... He had killed him. “You’re not real, you’re dead.” He whispered as he dropped to his knees, when he looked up he was alone again, and he was drenched in cold sweat.
