hello regarding ur kingdom of tondo & Kati post on fb can I have the depressing lore behind it if I can ask? I’m trying to plot a book right now and it takes place in Philippine history. I would really like to hear about how kati grew up, how was the household he was raised/born in like and how that affected him and shaped him into the person he was now. Like what role did Kati’s mom have in his life? like did she sacrifice something for kati and Kati didn’t even know about it? PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW 😿😿😿😿😿😿 cuz I don’t have a clue on how I want his family and childhood to be like thank you 🫶🏻 sorry
ok, so first off, i'm also still pretty unsure about kati's parents lol. cause it's only recently that i started musing the thought of kati (including sovi, for that matter) having parents.
also, i don't think the lore is too depressing, it's just the usual case of an abusive and emotionally unavailable father and an oppressed mother.
another thing, i'm still quite undecided whether i want the kingdom of tondo to be kati's mother cause i still have a lot of research to do. because that post was pretty much just something experimental, just me playing with concepts.
basically, the kingdom of tondo gets subdued, and she ends up being forced to marry a spanish gobernadorcillo. she gives birth to her eldest son: la liga filipina, and then to her youngest: katipunan, soon after.
the kingdom of tondo falls into a pit of despair after she got wedded and died soon after, when both liga and kati were still toddlers.
la liga strove to get spain's sponsorship so that he could achieve education whilst kati ended up becoming something akin to a street rat. their father favoured neither of them but he hated kati more than he was impartial to liga.
then their father dies and kati became the leader of the revolution that was already starting to brew, whilst liga tried to fight for the las islas filipinas' (perla, in a sense) rights in a peaceful and diplomatic way.
it was during the time when liga was off in europe that kati met perla. liga and kati often exchanged letters even though they weren't able to meet in person a lot, and liga always mentions his dear friend perla to kati.
kati comes across her in the streets of manila, undercover as some lowly plebian selling garlads of sampaguita outside the local church.
basically, perla was going through her "filial princess by day and rebel by night" phase around this time. acting like the prim and proper lady nueva españa taught her to be within the walls of spain's manor, whilst she went on her own sneaky little adventures when no one was looking.
katiperla fell in love, and they soon eloped.
a litte while after that, perla gave birth to her children, across maybe a span of three years (?) i'm still pretty undecided. she was in hiding while the spanish kept looking for her.(cause there's the concept of 'colony representatives' that i'll maybe yap about some other time)
they found her after a few years, took her and phil with them while del and martial was left with their father.
phil was sent to the spanish manor in bagiuo while perla was taken to europe. phil was raised under spanish doctrines and influences, completely cut off from his roots during his crucial, formative years (which would explain a lot of his issues as he grew up); and perla was locked up like a princess in a tower.
liga went back to the islands soon after, was executed via firing squad, and it then sparked the revolution that kati led. he was mourning his brother and his broken family and he wasn't in the best state of mind, but he fought with the betterment of his people at heart.
he gets captured during the late stages of the revolution, then america came, and phil was returned to his family, and perla was part of what america got during the treaty of paris so she was also bound to come home. stuff happened.
kati went through a lot of stuff so he was kinda messed up in the head when he was returned to his family so his people (not all of them, obvi. just mostly the elites) sort of got into an agreement to execute him.
phil heard rumours of it, he somehow kind of knew that they were about to kill his father—the father he grew to know and love despite having been lost for a long time—and maybe it was denial or disbelief, but phil did NOTHING. (i'm thinking that phil might've experienced relief for the first time in his entire life that it was a little hard to let go of, even at the cost of his father's life. think: phil probably thought that if he just ignored the issue, it would go away on its own)
besides, phil was also getting groomed (not in the bad way, kind of) into becoming the representative of the first philippine republic so he was hella preoccupied with a lot of things to really think about it in full.
kati was taken to some forest and murdered. phil deluded himself into thinking that his father was just hiding away in the forest to not confront phil about his blooming relationship with america, cause they had a little spat about the topic a little while back.
a little note: perla is still within the us' custody during this time and is still awaiting for the ship that would take her back to the philippines
del didn't know anything cause he was busy taking care of the aftermath of the war on their people, etc., ...
then came the ph-us war and phil deluded himself into thinking that it must've been america who killed his father and well, there's a lot more i've yet to explain but i don't know where to start ajsvajsvjabs
that's pretty much it lol. please feel free to ask for clarifications :D
