anyway here’s a hot take that would’ve gotten me #canceled in whatever year death bringer came out. val didn’t treat fletcher super well and was kind of an ass BUT the way everyone framed her as like. a terrible person after that? fucked up.

she was 16 and all of the people (grown adults!!!) she respected were continually telling her that he sucked/that their relationship sucked/he didn’t deserve her, he was older than her, it was NEVER going to be a long-lasting relationship and, most importantly, caelan was LITERALLY a predator he was over a hundred years old and a vampire! he tried to KILL her when she turned him down! i’m sorry fletcher was sad but val was being LITERALLY preyed on and the narrative framed it as like? oh val irredeemable for cheating on her boyfriend? caelan tried to KILL her
