Every time I think I'm having a chill day at work. Stressed!
I went to this fancy day spa yesterday since a) my eyebrows were turning into eyeBROW and b) a lot of co-workers had raved about the experience.
This place has been there for years, but way out of my league price-wise. Now that I have a better job and can do splurges like this every so often, it never really blipped on my radar.
Initial thought: "This is nice, but I feel severely underdressed." There was a general air freshener/diffuser going on that gave me a slight headache in the reception area, but a second one in the room upstairs they had me wait and fill out intake paperwork was nice. The lighting was low and they had soothing nature music quietly piped in through overhead speakers. The offer of wine was surprising, and probably not the best of ideas since I hadn't eaten since a very light lunch and I was already tired, but what the hell. The pleasant buzz was worth it.
Procedure-wise: the technician was nice and I don't know if it was because I've waxed my brows so many times now that I'm essentially numb or if the wax was that good, but it was 99% pain-free. I think I was in and out in less than fifteen minutes. Usually I'm sort of leery at doing my eyebrows during the work week because I get a bit puffy and red, especially on the arch closest to my eyelid, but none of that happened. The price did turn out to be a bit more expensive once you count in the gratuity, but I figure that the atmosphere and free wine made it worthwhile.
Verdict: 8/10, will visit again. I like the lady who normally does my brows, but I'd more than likely come back at least once a month for a treat.
