British artist Bruce Pennington is now retired after a long career as one of SF and fantasy's best-loved a cover artists, but as of 2019 he is still painting and recent works can be seen on his website (www.brucepennington.co.uk).

Written as a series of stories in the 1930s and 1940s, The Voyage of the Space Beagle is one of A. E. Van Vogt's best-known works and is a precursor of both Star Trek (it's the story of a deep space exploration crew's first contacts) and Alien (one of those contacts is with a parasitical alien that grows its young in other species).
