I don't really wanna get too into the IT fandom 'cause I don't want to start resenting IT the way FS fandom has made me resent FS. But dang, are Simon stans actually Like That? I don't see how they could get mad at your fic, did they forget that in the show he straight up killed someone, TRIED to kill Grace, and was totally unrepentant throughout before dying a gruesome death? NTYT is pretty generous by comparison I think lol
Simon stans are trash. They rarely read my work, thankfully, as I don't really make Simon out to be some poor helpless child that the big bad mean Black girl leads to destruction, which is the usual sentiment of most of his fan base. They're basically him, but in real life.
Unless you get the rare types that just love them both (and even some of those be lying, because several of them you'll find actually only care about Grace as it relates to how she shapes Simon's narrative), then I would never advise anybody to join the fandom.
It's one of THE WORST in all my years of fandom, with regards to how they interpret the Black girl and only the ones who are blatant ever actually get called out! People will actually feel like so long as they don't abuse Grace in fic that they've treated her well, even when the portrayal is clearly a projection of their estimations and not actually the character that was presented to us.
It's a shit fandom and I don't mind saying it. And the VERY FEW people that I fw in the fandom know that I can't stand the fandom. 🤷🏾♀️
