Thinking about what I said re: The Master and thinking about what you said, perhaps the Master used the chameleon arch to become human BECAUSE he was on his last regeneration, even with the new set he recieved. I mean, death comes with war. Especially with the Daleks. And if the Time Lords really wanted the Master to fight, he might have ended up in what could be considered the “front line” and therefore used up more than someone like the Doctor. Does that make sense or am I starting to ramble?
No, I understand what you mean.
I mean, it makes sense to me that he would have gone to his death out of not having any choice. The whole of his time in the Nu!Who series seems to be spent on getting the Doctor's attention and I think, in a way, trying to find something of the friendship they once had. I mean, the Doctor likes humans so what better way to get his attention than turn yourself into all the humans. I've always seen his time in Nu!Who to be about getting that connection back with the Doctor in some weird, twisted way and if you see it that way, it doesn't make much sense that he'd just choose to die instead of go with the Doctor. Even so, he couldn't have been completely sure that his whole little plot to come back would even work, so why not just regenerate and try to overpower the Doctor and steal the TARDIS to go off on his own. He's a clever man and I don't know that he would risk his existence on something so unstable when there were so many easier ways.
I don't know. Just, the whole situation makes more sense to me if he were being forced to die rather than choosing to. But I suppose we can't really know, in the end.
