SPACE ODDITY - DAVID BOWIE

Is this song eerie or what? Each time I catch this on, I am pulled into the deep dark world of Major Tom’s space expedition gone wrong.  There are a few things in particular that I love about this song though- one, the Bowie British accent accentuating the refrain “Ground Controwl to Mayjor Tum”.  I love that he wrote this song after seeing Space Odyssey when he was out of his mind stoned - so moved, he birthed Space Oddity. And lastly, that acoustic guitar followed by the  claps rounding up the the full bodied orchestra. This is brilliant!  The composition of the song takes you on the journey as much as the story itself.  Whenever this song ends I’m always left thinking -What does happen to Tom, is he back on Earth? Did he settle in another galaxy? Is he endlessly floating?Wherever he is, he should know he is the subject of one of the coolest rock songs out there.
