One thing this local band has going for them is their damn catchy tunes. A bit of infectious pop with an indie rock backbone makes their songs easily accessible and have fueled the band with serious momentum. In honor of all their recent accomplishments, I delved deeper into SpacePapa's world for Moksori with a little Q and A.

Big thanks to the band for giving us their insight!

1 | Hello SpacePapa! Could you please introduce yourselves to our readers? “ Hi everyone, our team name is SpacePapa and we are a Synth Rock Band. ”

2 | Why did you choose to be musicians? “ 'Cause we love it! ” 3 | How did the band form? And why did you choose the name Spacepapa? “ Our guitarist, Seong Min, got all the band members together -Jin Kyu (Vocal), Eun Ho (Drums), Su Bin (Synth)-. And then, the reason why we named our band 'SpacePapa' is because the 'Space' image is relevant to our music and 'Papa' is very easy to pronounce. ” 4 | How were the first songs born? “ Actually we made instrumental songs in the first place, but we thought that if we added vocals, our music could be more powerful and awesome.. So we did it and it was indeed better than instrumental. ” 5 | Subin, you joined the band few months ago after Suk Young and Kyung Hoon leaved the band.. Did this lead to a change of style in the music that the band played? “ Before we changed the members, our band sound had lots of components because of bass and synth sounds. But now as I play the synth bass, our sound became simple and very addictive. ” 6 | « Get smart, fund art » You’ve already participated to the project ‘tumblbug’. How was this experience? Why did you chose to use that platform? “ If a musician wants to make an album, he'll need to raise the money.. And our fans wanted our music, so we used the project 'tumblbug' to share the things each other. ” 7 | « Everybody’s Changing » (Keane), « Undercover Martyn » (Two Door Cinema Club), « Just a little bit » (kids of 88), « The stuff » (Lasse Lindh), « Sleep alone » (Two Door Cinema Club), « Treasure » (Bruno Mars) …. You’re used to cover songs for showcases. How do you chose them? “ Because those songs have many things pop, they're good for us. But we like many genres and we like to change our style. ” 8 | How do you arrange songs when the band is writing them? “ One band member sketches the song and then assembles together with the other members. ” 9 | What challenges the band has had when making music or performing live? “ Unity among members. ” 10 | How do you feel about the Seoul music scene? “ The Indie band scene is small and needs more attention of the public. ” 11 | What are you planning on doing next? “ We will make an EP album as soon as possible. ” 12 | Thanks for the answers, do you have anything else that you’d like to say to Moksori’s readers? “ Thanks for reading our interview and we hope that Moksori's readers will love more Korean music and Spacepapa! ”
