Ah. Personal realization.

My fanart and fanfic is made with community in mind and the desire to share and create connections with other fans (rather than being a content mill and creating passive engagement, she says salty :/ ), which is why engagement is more important to me.

But my OC art and stories are more for me. It's self indulgent, they're my characters and my stories and things I specifically want to see, so it matters less over all if there's engagement with them. If you engage with them and are interested in them that's amazing and the highest compliment I can receive as an artist and creator, but at the basis it's a creation that's for me first and foremost.
