About this Blog + Mods
Hey! Welcome to oekakidogarchive, a blog dedicated to preserving, honoring and celebrating the 2000s era of oekakis and sparkledog art!
Here on this blog, though we post anything "sparkledog" from about 2004 through 2011, we like to really focus on something we call "oekakidogs!" An oekakidog is typically simpler and less flashy than the stereotypical sparkledog, and describes the type of design that dominated the Oekaki boards of the 2000s - particularly in the ~05 to 08 era.
The Oekaki, an online imageboard equipped with built-in drawing apps, thrived and served as the birthplace of what would later become known as the sparkledog. During that time, it was just funny animals drawn by teens on now defunct image boards, but it was our whole culture back then. Join us on a trip down memory lane to the era of Invader Zim, Neopets, and Gen 3/4 Pokemon, where we can reminisce and celebrate the fluffy, silly, and colorful animal art of the time.
Our mascot is Mooneh, and her reference is right here:
Our mods are Mod Cy (@fov2025joeywalker ) and Mod Willow (@willobark )
While this blog is a celebration and genuine appreciation of the era, we understand that posting other people's old art can bring back bad memories or feelings of cringe. If you are the owner of a piece of art posted here and want it removed, we will comply and put your name on our blacklist. All art here is taken from still existing deviantart accounts and will be linked.
NOTE: PLEASE do not bother or harass any linked artists about buying their OCs!
If you were a sparkledog artist from the 2000s and have some art that you'd like to share, we'd love for you to submit your sparkle animal art from this era!
