“You’re conflicted I can see it. You don’t want to be the hero but you’re not evil enough to be the villain. So what are you?” | Spargusade |

“ Was it really that obvious ? “
OLD HABITS DIE HARD; especially one such as this. For a boy who learned how to express with his body more than his voice, it proved to be more of a liability than a gift ( as the mute soon found a voice to call his own ; one born from screaming out & violent prayers to willfully ignorant gods that someone heard his cries. ) HOWEVER – Try as he might, to learn how to hide those cues from scruntinizing eyes, there’s only so much the ‘hero’ can hide from his other half.
His other half, a reflection, having been with Jak the longest - to hide his cues from Jadan would be akin to change who he was.
Perhaps that is why Jak had grown to HATE the role of ‘hero.’ Once adored & enjoyed, taking satisfaction within PROTECTING THE MEEK. A noble cause, if you ask someone else; but one that Jak has grown to see more as another cage. ‘A bird with clipped wings.’ ( the storyteller had long lost his binds, far before Jak will ever lose his. should this role not become his cause of death. )
Slowly, the hero lets his voice come back. Soft & quiet - almost SCARED in a way. His willing vulnerability, one exposed only for those violet eyes. For only his other half would understand this one’s greivance. Only family would understand this desire.
THE BLOOD OF THE COVENANT MAY BE THICKER THAN THE WATER OF THE WOMB - - but nothing is stronger than the loyalty of this soldier twice betrayed & left for dead by the people he sought to protect. As this devoted soldier has only one true cause, one instilled in him from birth by a king who had refused to give up on his sick son.
“ I just want to be here for you. “
