Water Tubing isn't just fun, it now saves lives.
The Network Tube is a doughnut shaped apparatus that will surround a person in an in-water emergency situation. It is a floatation device that will keep a person safe and afloat on calm or rough waters. You may ask, “How is the Network Tube any different then a regular water buoy?” The main reason it is different is because the Network Tube combines the idea of a floatation device with GPS technology and magnetic links.
Unfortunately accidents happen, however with this new invention travelers could feel more safe and secure with the way in which they are traveling whether that is by large water crafts, airplanes, or even a personal boat. In the case of an in-water or over-water emergency each passenger would simply put one of these network tubes on and jump into water. The tube will keep you afloat while its GPS locates another passenger and uses the magnetic links to simply attach itself to the other. This not only keeps passengers together but also reduces chances of hypothermia and even death. Not to mention that the tube also has lights which will help you to see other passengers and potentially assist them even in the dark.
Radhika Seth had this to say about Yanko Design's new product: "One of the biggest fears while evacuating a sinking ship is the possibility of survivors being carried away by the tide, and people getting lost at sea. The Network Tube is a rescue tube with magnetic properties and aims to form a floating cluster, bringing people together via GPS. When people huddle together, they not only boost each other’s morale, but they also increase their chances of survival."
Well this product certainly increases chances of survival and the effect of this has been recognized earning it a spot as an entry in the 2011 Spark Awards. Designers Son Kijo, Joon Hyoung Seo, Uhm Hyung Woo, Choi JinYoung & Kim Junpyo have definitely won at least my vote, this product can change the face of safety when traveling on many types of crafts.
A journey is preparing for anything.
