@sparkwithinme Oh my god, you did say that, MY BAD. Also yeah, oh, Brains. MAX is very versatile. But I’m also stuck on the idea of the Argo, mainly because I’m a huge dork.
Also, in my defense, I’ve seen Heist Society maybe twice. I’m just not a fan of it, it plays really weird to me. I like the idea of these, they’re handy, but they seem more like things that would be useful in a recovery mission than in the heat of the moment.
Mostly my issue is that if Gordon needs immediate backup, like urgent ‘oh-my-god-tb4-is-flooding’ or ‘i’m-injured-and-EVA’ or ‘tb4′s-systems-are-down-and-i’m-stranded’ like what exactly would they do? If TB4′s already down there and Gordon needs some extra hands, there’s not really all that much they can do. Even in Up From The Depths, TB4′s out of commission and if it hadn’t been for the TV-21, how would Gordon have made it up to the surface on his own, let alone with the other two, because I’m sure he has an extra supply of oxygen but dear God.
Now I’m not a diver, but isn’t the recommended ascent rate like 30ft per minute? Supposedly, the deepest part of the Mariana Trench is the Challenger Deep, which is 36,037ft deep, and obviously it varies and there’s probably more to it than I know, but essentially that would take like what, 20 hours? I’m not exactly great at math but I think that’s right. Maybe that EXO suit tips the scale towards him, but I dunno. And that’s not even mentioning the fact that without TB4 or the TV-21, they would have had no way to safely evac those researchers. It just seems like an oversight.
It’s also like in Slingshot. Obviously if TB3 had gone right into the sun there would have basically been nothing to recover, but say Alan’s going towards Mars, hits some wreckage, and just ends up stranded. Without Three’s ion fusion engines, it’s gonna take anybody coming after him a long while to get there, and if Alan’s mid-rescue, or hurt, he’s pretty much fucked.
I feel like with the kinda guy Brains is, they have backup plans galore, but I just wish we could see them. Because at the moment, it feels like Gordon and Alan don’t particularly have any solid backup to rely on with their specialties and that just feels weird.
Also, I’m probably overthinking this. But what else is new.
@sparkwithinme @tenjounotora ACTUALLY I TOTALLY JUST HAD AN IDEA ABOUT THE RETRIEVING TB4 THING ‘cause I was thinking about the Titanic. Maybe instead of the pods, IR has a few remote-controlled ship(s) like the Argo. Kind of a drone. So to get TB4 back up, they could send down the ships and I use those buoyancy things from Heist Society to lift the wreckage up. They’d be less risky to take that far down without human passengers.
Also, they could be used to backup Gordon, I guess? I mean they probably wouldn’t be used for delicate work but if Gordon needed a hand or if they needed more information about an area or they were doing a recovery mission instead of a rescue they could send those out and explore? I dunno.
